No Power....1992 honda Civic hatch
i have a 92 civic cx hatch....ok 1st gear at a dead stop will feel like its not getting enough power to move so i have to clutch and get my rpms way up to get it going, then when i start going its like it doesnt want to go it'll like jump kinda like im pressing the gass on and off intill i get into higher RPM's then itll just go like i hit VTEC (which i dont have), when i shift into 2nd gear, it does the same thing, basicly to go i have to pin it so im wasting gas like crazy with no power, and third and fourth i have nothing unless im pinning it and i have to down shift into second just to get up hills so idk wtf is going on

Re: No Power....1992 honda Civic hatch
nope, it idles fine as well, im thinking valves need adjusted, timing needs adjusted, a tune up is needed, or im miss firing

MAP Sensor Cutaway/Voltage Output Characteristics
The Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor, is a silicon diaphragm strain gauge type of sensor. It converts a pressure differential to a voltage signal which is then sent to the ECU as an input. At idle with a manifold pressure of 500 mmHg (20 in.Hg) the sensor output is approx. 1.0 - 1.25 volts, at wide open throttle manifold pressure of 0 mmHg (0 in.Hg) the output is approx. 2.75 - 3.0 volts.

Throttle Angle (TPS) Sensor
The Throttle Angle Sensor, connected to the side of the throttle body, is a rotary potentiometer. It is connected to the throttle shaft. As the throttle angle changes, the throttle angle sensor varies the voltage signal to the ECU. The ECU uses this voltage signal along with the MAP Sensor voltage signal to determine engine load. The typical output voltage at idle is approx. 0 - 0.5 volts and at wide open throttle approx. 4.5 volts.
the map sensor and tps sensor go habd in hand check them both out.

....FIVE BUCKS says the timing is off. In some cases, you can still crank the car with the timing being off one tooth (cam gears) but WILL NOT throw a CEL code.

Re: No Power....1992 honda Civic hatch
oh, and i recently got it smogged and i barely passed...running way rich. engine don't smoke, timing is on, valves adjusted, distributor-cap-rotor-plugs-wires-fuel filter-fuel pump-fuel pressure regulator all new.

Re: No Power....1992 honda Civic hatch
Did you mess with the timing belt at all? Remember, if you ever need to take off the timing belt, you have to set the entire motor to TDC by moving the distributor and adjustable cam gears (if applicable) back to stock TDC. If you don't, the timing will be off and cause you headaches.

no, i took it to the dealership and they couldnt find the prob either, they told me to replace the wire harness cuz it has butt-connectors all over the place from being stolen and hacked apart.

Re: No Power....1992 honda Civic hatch
so it runs better now? i got a harness from the scrap yard and it made everything a lot better, but now i have a CEL with an O2 sensor code...but the sensor is new...after i reset the ecu, it comes on without starting the car. like its not reading the O2 sensor is there. maybe the harness between the ecu and the engine harness...or the ecu....only those 2 things left to replace...blah!

Re: No Power....1992 honda Civic hatch
its runs way better, i still need to do the valves, but now my rings are done, my car smokes so damn bad, well i think its my rings, i was told to use this engine treatment stuff to stop the smoking and noise and it didnt do anything!
