Default Nice, my check engine light is constantly flashing counted to 100 and gave up

Well after putting in this motor(D16Y8) into my 97 HB. Ive been running into problems. Well at first my rev limit was set at 5500, so i checked my valve cover gasket and there was a rip, i fixed it. and now i rev all the way to 7k. but now my check engine light is constantly flashing and it stops and turns solid again when i turn something else electrical on, ie my headlights, stereo. also stops to a solid when i rev the engine a little.

I already know 2 things that are throwing it the CEL is because i dont have a cat and i dont have a fuel tank pessure sensor. but i was not having this problem before.

also it appears that my alternator is making a high pitched squealing noise but it only happens real loud when the car is moving. I pinpointed it to the alternator via listening.

WTF could be causing the CEL to constantly flash though?

Not being a dick but asking what else it could be and not having fixed the other 2 known problems is like pissing into the wind and asking why you got all wet. Fix the 2 cels first adjust the belt on the alternator check all of the grounds then get back to us with any codes you might have.

before i swapped the new motor in, it was running fine so those are not causing this issue. and the other 2 cels will not effect the motor.

my cel was flashing cause the valves were bent said it was misfiring in my 99. if you pay attention to it can you feel it hesitate while your accelerating? do a cylinder compression test.

The CEL flashes to let you know that you ARE misfiring - it's an OBDII thing.

Is this just a stock Y8?

yeah its a stock Y8. And the light only flashes when idling and it does not flash any other time. when i barely rev the engine when it is flashing it stops and this morning it would stop on it own after about 20 flashes or so

What maintenance items have you done to it? Set the valve lash? Check the ignition timing? Cap, rotor, plugs, wires?

cap and rotor is something i need to do but the previous owner of that head said that there was 20k on the cap and rotor and ive had that head for about 8k now.

Wires i pulled from my Y7 and those have about a year on them and 25k.

Havent checked ignition timing. I have the dizzy dead even.

I did the valve lash about 2 weeks ago but i need to do a complete lash on it again, because there is still some ticking.

Spark plugs have only 15k on them, i think i may have to regap them.

Air Filter has unknown miles, i bought the AEM CAI from a friend.

TPS is in the middle.

All lines that i know of are connected.

I mean their was no real problem until a couple days ago when i replaced an ebay header that had 2 O2 sensor holes to a stock EX Manifold and i have the 2nd O2 sensor unplugged. But i know that doesnt casue anything.

And i know that is all i touched

and a few days before that i repaired my valve cover gasket.
