newbie with a few questions
Just want to say hi to everyone, and hoping that you high compression NA guys could help answer my questions.
1-I'm planning on buidling a poor man type-r motor with a compression of 11.1:1 using JDM ITR pistons and a B16A head (stock), otherwise everything else would be stock. This would be an OBD1 motor. How would this effect my odds of passing smog in CA, I'm talking about both state referee (CARB certifying) and the regular smog check?
2_Cali is changing its octane rating to 91 for premium fuel right now from 92 points. Can I safely run 11.1:1 compression ratio without detonation on 91 octane? I really don't want to blow this up.
3_Is it necessary for me to get new rods since the one in the B18C right now has approximately 78K miles on them? I was planning on shot peening them.
Any kind of info or suggestions would be appreciated. Peace.
