new guy from the dark side.......
I figured I'd post this here since Im about to be getting a 2000 Civic.
Im picking up a 2000 Civic for a decent daily driver while I part out my 2001 Camaro SS. I had the rear studs sheer off the SS on the high way and it slammed into a gooseneck trailer totaling it. It was a decently quick car: Ran a 12.39@117 with a crappy 2.1 60' on a 100 shot. I never took it to the track after I put in the fully built trans and big stall but it should have been a mid 11 sec car

after:
With a couple buddies

Im getting this 2000 civic from a buddy at work for $1500
and am wanting to do a few small mods. My main question is what are some decent budget lowering springs, I heard that Matrix are junk and maybe a cheap cai I dont want to spend too much on it since I dont know if I am gonna keep it for long. After I sell most of the part off the camaro Im getting a c6 vette, c5 z06 vette or maybe a trailblazer ss so I want to keep thiis one on a buget since I know Im gonna go crazy in the vette, thinking full bolt ons and a 175 rwhp wet shot

wow...
Camaro looks better smashed up IMO!! LOL
kidding... but seriously, this site is for real Honda Supporters, not someone just stopping by to scab ideas and then **** off back to domesticrap vehicles.
I hope you end up loving your Honda, realizing the quality difference (as compared to one of your Camaro's) and decide that Chevy's are poorly built, overpriced, inefficient blocks of mild china steel. IMO.

welcome! The way I look at this is, Honda's very rarely go fast in a straight line, but can easily handle the turns with a little modification. It is all dependent on what you are looking for. That corvette will be awesome regardless, and will be a good car. If you aren't interested in keeping the car for any length of time I wouldn't do much to it, I feel like you would not get enough out of the upgrades when you go to get your new car to make it worth your while.

Re: new guy from the dark side.......
Just throw a turbo kit in your little honda and you are going to love the thing and may never buy another car/ And the power gains from a turbo kit would be just up your alley with the power of the camaro.

Alright man I understand but as soon as I put a turbo on my b16 hatch I never went back to the SBC cars. Find someone with a turbo'd honda and take a ride and see how you like it.

Re: new guy from the dark side.......
I hear ya on that, the camaro was a son of a bitch from a dig, full bolt ons, 100 shot out of the hole, fully built trans, 3800 stall and some mickey thompson drag radials. I would launch at 2500 with the nitrous coming on at 3k dead hooking. I had an appointment in july to get my cam ( 230 234 .612/.598 111+3) and fuel pump installed and get it tuned for a 175 shot. It would have been around 540rwhp and 580-600rwtq easily a mid 10 sec car. It was fun but Im thinking my next cars gonna be a highway monster. A m6 c6 vette with a vararam, catback and 175 shot should be around 520rwhp. I guess Im more of a nitrous guy but everyone likes something different, if your close to southeast tx lmk

Re: new guy from the dark side.......
are you going to put aftermarket struts or just aftermarket springs on stock struts? if ur going with stock struts dont go more than a 2" dropp all around, ur struts are gonna go bad in a couple of months and the ride is horryble..im telling ya this from personal experience...i had some tein s-techs on stock struts and they laster more than 2 years before i sold the car, the drop on the civics if im correct is 1.8 front and 1.7 back...
ohh and that was a nice camaro u had there...any vids of drag strip passes?

Re: new guy from the dark side.......
welcome,
most springs are cheap now, eibach makes a good one, if you want coilovers you can get ground controls or skunk2. they will work with the stock shocks for awhile, eventually the stock shocks will blow out. skunk2 are a bit stiff for dd's. teins are not so cheap, but are awesome. I loved my set when i had them.
i would suggest the ground controls, and maybe in the future a set of koni yellow shocks, or kyb agx.
for cai, i will only run aem, but i'm in cali, and everything needs to be legal. good luck, and i hope the dd works out for you.
I like the corvettes a lot, they eat things up at autox and at the track.
oh and dont mind some people on this site, they tend to be idiots...

Re: new guy from the dark side.......
thanks for the info guys,
This is my only track pass, it was with a blown trans, the pass before this one is when I ran the 12.39@117. The trans was slippin so bad on this pass it ran a 13.29@111mph on a 100 shot with a 2.3 60" This one has my old exhaust, long tubes off road Y pipe and a borla catback
new exhaust, same long tubes but a off road H pipe with dynomax bullets
