Default new gauge cluster, mph gauge seems to stumble...

With my old stock gauge cluster i could usually get it up to around 60 in 2nd gear when i was really hopping on it...now i installed a 95 ex gauge cluster and when i hope on it really hard it seems like its taking a long time to get up to 60, im not sure if the needle is moving slow or if im a loser and cant gauge the speed well...should there be a problem like this? i dont really feel like taking my dash apart again

ummmm.....did you have to cut any wires back behind the cluster or did you pull extremely hard on any of the wires in the harness while changing the cluster. try just playing with the wires and making sure there is a good connection between pins. if it works let me know

nah i didnt have to cut any wires back or anything, the only thing that happened was i blew the dash light fuse because i had the emergency flasher button plugged into the wrong thing (it was late) but after i plugged it into the right connector and replaced the fuse everything seemed fine, i dunno it just seems the gauges are "lazy" maybe its just me being hypercritical

heh.....I think most of us have done this no matter what time of the day it was.

I had that happen to a few of my different clusters. I think it means that the speedo
electrical stuff is going bad. I had a few eg6 clusters at one time, so I swapped out
the electronics and the little motor looking thing under the guage face, it seemed to
work, so I was happy. Its a huge pain to get the needle off without breaking the post
its on. I have broken so many. The 96+ clusters are the hardist to get off I think.
A fork works pretty good when you are trying to pry them off with equal pressure.
