Default new to EG

im over in the intergra forums all the time. but ive been pondering an EG hatch. i was just wanting to know what to look for when buying a used one. any little things that most people look over and what-have-you. i prefer bone stock, so if anybody has one, just let me know. i have been looking online locally and in the newspaper. a few here and there, but i would have to get rid of the integra first and drive around my ranger in order to get the hatch.

just drop down your wisdom

There really isnt much to look for.. pretty much the basics that you look for when buying any used car.. What I would do is just read up on just about anything you have questions on, this is a VERY information section on honda tech and just about any questions you have has probably already been asnwered

Rust in the rear quarter panels is often a problem. Regarding rear disks, it's a cheap and easy upgrade for any model so don't look specifically for an Si unless you want the sunroof.

i was actually looking for the lightest one possible. so the sunroof and a/c and things like that dont really matter. ive got the buddy clubs from my integra that will be quickly mounted as soon as i get my hatch.

and yes i will most likely be dropping in a b18b1 for boost. i was reading the MANY stickys at the top of the page and all the wonderful links wrapped up inside those. it seems like the non-vtec ls integra motor is the best swap into an EG is boost will be coming later.

and thats pretty much it. i just didnt know if you guys had little tips on buying one. i kinda figured it was the same as any other used car. but there are things like the DSMs have crank-walk sometimes. and if you dont know what you are looking for, you could get fucked hard.

I agree. My preference would be either the DX or CX. Get the SI if you don't want to install power window, door locks, and mirrors as an after thought.

That's the easiest way to go, until you add boost and all of the electronics stuff you hate will reappear in form of adding wires for standalone computer, boost gauge, EGT, turbo timer, etc....

this is true. but even still. it will be less wires than if i had all the "luxuries". or another way to look at it, less things to go wrong.

I don't know why anybody didn't mentioned this, but if you can find a VX, get that

it's as light as the CX
pre wired for VTEC
comes with stock tach

and lots more extra goodies, that only that model has.

The CX is the lightest. However it's true that it does not have a stock tach and you would have to wire up vtec.

ehh ... not going VTEC. gonna run a b18b1 with boost. and the tach is no big deal.

Also note that the 92 and 93 CX is only wired for a 1 wire O2 sensor, and additional wiring is necessary. The 94 and 95 CX's had the additional weight of passenger airbags.
