New Dizzy...Code 4 CPS
My brother recently purchased a 94 Civic EX, with a B16 out of a 99 Si, converted to OBD1. The seller drove it to our house and it ended up dying in our driveway.
The dizzy ended up chewing itself up (retaining screw on the rotor), so we bought a new one from distributorkings.com. The car ran great, we drove it around for 10 minutes with no problems. All of a sudden, the car died and when we got it to start again, it wouldn't rev past 3500 rpms and the CEL was on.
We got it back home, I checked the code, it was a Crank Position Sensor (code 4). I pulled the ECU fuse thinking that the ECU could have been not liking the new dizzy.
Next day...no more CEL, car revs past 3500, no problem. We let the car warm up, all of a sudden hear the motor struggling and it dies. Start the car again and same symptoms, code 4 & won't rev past 3500.
I know replacing the dizzy is the only way to fix the CPS problem...my conerns are that there is another factor causing the distributor to fry itself. Is there anything I should be looking for, before we send this distibutor back for a new one? Or should I just take the distributor off, send it back and see what happens from there?
SOME CLIFFS:
Bought car, car died due to a retaining screw for the rotor ripped apart the dizzy, replaced dizzy, CEL code 4 (CPS) after car died, reset ecu no more CEL, car warmed up and died, same code/symptoms. Should I be looking for something that could be frying the CPS or just replace the dizzy and go from there?

I swear by Distributor King. I (and anyone else that I know of that uses them) have had nothing but compliments on their products and customer service.
Send yours back and they should be able to get you a new one asap.
