New clutch not engaging after 6 months. HELP!
i swapped the tranny and clutch 6 months ago with a clutchmaster 3 kit on my 99 si.
this morning, i had to rev the car to 2500 rpms just to get get to go in first gear. now while i was driving, i cant get it to move in gear anymore. the engine runs, i stick it in first gear and give it some gas while releasing the clutch and it goes no where. i tried it in all the gears including reverse, and it goes no where. starting the car and throwing it in first gear, when i release the clutch it doesnt jerk and die like its supposed to.
now the clutch, flywheel, pressure plate is only 6 months old. the tranny i got was from a hydro jdm b16 sir2. the only thing i can think of is the clucth, but its only 6 months.
help!

[qoute]Check your clutch fluid! [qoute]
I believe a leak in the clutch fluid will cause the pedal to feel soft (dont qoute me on this), but, its something to look into. my pedal still feels normal.
my clutch fluid looks dirty. would this cause the problem? anyways, ill give it a look for leaks too when i take out the jrsc tommorrow. i hope its not the clucth. its a pain in the *** to have to retake it out so soon. the damn clutchmaster 3 kit cost me an arm and a leg. it would be a shame if it was the clucth. i knew i should of stayed with another ACT 6 puck

If you had oil or brake fluid (what's inside your hydraulic clutch lines) leaking onto your clutch it would feel slick and wouldn't catch very quickly. But if you are leaking fluid from your clutch lines you should get it sealed up and then purged of air in the lines.

Do you have any Motor Oil leaks? Like your rear main seal? That will cause oil to sling around in your bell housing and onto your clutch causing it to slip.

speaking of oil leaks. i actually do have one. i looked under the blower this morning and found one that collects right under where the blower and TB meet. its a very small leak. i was thinking it may be blowby. not really sure yet.
My question is.................where is the rear main seal at? if it does originate from the rear main seal, is the clucth still salvagable if i solve the oil leak problem?

Just check the easy things first - clutch fluid, slave cylinder, clutch pedal adjustment.
Then, if not, the tranny must come off.

The rear main is located inside the bell housing side of the block..Seals the crank and stuff..Behind the flywheel. And if the clutch is oil soaked then no it is not a good idea to reuse it.

well, removing the jrsc i found that the oil leak was coming from a crack in the oil separator box. clutch lines look fine. guess the tranny is coming off next.

tranny, clutch pressure plate, fork, throwout bearing, and flywheel is out. lines and everything looks fine. no warpage. no oil leaks. only thing i can find wrong is that one of the springs in the clutch is loose. i can rock it back and forth with my fingers. it doesnt move when i shake the whole clucth disc though. can this be the cause of not causing my clutch not to engage?

Re: New clutch not engaging after 6 months. HELP! (RangerDan)
if you mean shiny.................then no. it looks like its got alot of wear for the short amount of time ive been using it though. it still has enough padding to give it a few good runs.
when my act 6 puck went out, it gave the same exact symptoms. it lasted me a good 4 years. thats when i replaced it with the clutchmaster3. after replacement, it was all good. until now
im also thinking tranny, but, that wouldnt make very much sense. maybe the axle popped out of place a little causing the car not to move forward, but, that doesnt explain why the car wouldnt jerk in gear when i released the clutch in nuetral.
im getting kinda bored too, so ill post pix of everything later.

Hmmm. Luserkid had a valid point in the early part of this post....were break in procedures followed? I think some clutches need to be broken in and others it doesnt seem to matter.
Well in any case best of luck!!!
