I am just trying to figure out what an 1999 Civic Si is? EK or EG?

Many people call ALL '96-'00 Civics EKs or all '96-'00 hatches EKs. In reality, there was never an EK chassis coupe and there was never a USDM EK chassis.

Here are the USDM '96-'00 Civic chassis:

Actually, true EKs can be either hatches or sedans. None were sold in the US though. They're all overseas car (Europe, Asia, South America, etc.)

There are EGs in the US though. No hatches, but sedans and a few del Sol trims.

I have not seen the EM1 listed when looking for parts. Will the EG/EK parts work with EM1 cars?

true, mines a eh2 (canada, ehhh), but thats just generally how i hear people reffere to their generation.

It's going to depend on the part. Remember that many people use the term "EK" to mean any 6th gen and "EG" to mean any 5th gen. While this is technically wrong, many peopel, including companies selling parts, will continue to use these terms.

It'd be much easier if they just listed the year range and motor and body style if applicable.

SOME CTR parts will fit his USDM Si. Some of the items that won't fit would include exterior body parts such as the rear lip. And of course, the CTR ran from 1997 to 2000. The Si only ran from 1999 to 2000. So the front ends CAN be different too.

'96-'98 coupes and sedans have the same exact rear bumper and lip. '99-'00 coupes and sedans have the same exact rear bumper and lip. They are interchangeable between the two ends of the generation, but the lips only fit (without modification) the correct year range bumper.
