need opinions thinkin bout tradeing cars
hey guys well ive always wanted a hatch now i have the chance to trade a friend shells but i cant decide if i want to part with my baby ive had the coupe for a lil over 5 years now just wanted to get ppls opinions on it
THE CARS:
Mine:
95 honda civic ex coupe
sun roof
power everything
decent black paint
tokiko blue shocks and progress springs
fading carbon fiber hood
clean black and red interior
I KEEP MY RIMS AND MY GSR MOTOR
His:
92 civic CX hatch
custome porse metalic gray paint 1 year old
gsr front seats
converted to power options but not the OEM way he just added switches to the door panel so i of course would have to do that the right way
GC coilovers
Mugen lower control arms
gray interior needs just a lil TLC
carbon fiber duck bill jst a lil sun burnt
HIS CAR CONS:
have to replace door panels with ex power panels and re wire windows
ugly stock lether back seat so need to replace that
need to get better shocks cuz we all know coilovers on stock shocks suck ***
HIS CAR PROS:
paint is awsome
like the gsr front seats
and hes gonna do the motor swap for free
MY CAR CONS:
i need to replace my suspension bushings
minor scratches on the car
need to replace carbon hood
MY CAR PROS:
my coupe is bard for my gsr
the interior is clean
black dash
NEED HELP GETTING OFF THE FENCE LOL

Re: need opinions thinkin bout tradeing cars
steals it.
id do it but i like hatches more then coupes. plus your car sounds like its got more work then the more PIA parts of the work needed on the hatch.

Too close of comparisons to make a call. So here's my two cents.
Want to look good? = Coupe
Want to impress Honda enthusiasts? = Either because GSR is niiice. But most will like the hatchy.
Have a lady or want one? = They always prefer coupes.
Auto-X? = Again both, but hatchy is lighter.
Storage? = Hatchy.
My overall opinion is keep the coupe. If you trade, you'll have to do work. Why work when you already have a decent car? Especially since you are "on the fence" (meaning you aren't so sold on hatches you'd do anything to get one).
P.S. by work I mean take out your GSR, put it back in, could run into problems. Taking off wheels, putting them on (not a big deal, but still work).

KEEP THE COUPE! I will admit the hatch it clean, and im a coupe guy. You dont see nearly as many coupes on the streets but always see a ton of cookie cutter hatches. Just my opinion. Coupes are tons quieter as well.
Like my mom always told me "if you dont think you can live without it, or cant make a definate decision, dont do it. You will regret it later" mom is always right....right? ha

dude,
basically man,
the body of a civic is its core. everything else can be swapped out without too much fuss.
But civic metal is very flimzy, and the paint is old,
if you have a chance to get into a car that is completely straight with paint that is "amazing". that is definitely what you'll want to do.
PLUS you get to keep your motor.
to be honest.. I don't really see what incentive this guy has to do this trade, hehe
interior door panels and back seats are really VERY minor issues.

Re: need opinions thinkin bout tradeing cars
I don't know, hatches are nice and that one does have clean paint so I would say if you make the trade you would end up with a more desirable car to most people. On the other hand, (I'm assuming) your car works well, the GSR swap is done, and it's bar'd, which I hear is no easy task out in California. So just think about the old cliche "if it isn't broke, don't fix it." This isn't something any of us Honda guys really listen to, but just some food for thought.

Re: need opinions thinkin bout tradeing cars
well u probably got the bar done urself,
so everyones saying basically,
the hatch is better..
but bars are a PIA so stick with the bar car..
BUT you got the car bard so YOU know how much of a pain it was.
was it easy enough that you don't mind doing it again on the hatch? or is it PIA enough that you should stick with the coupe?
I think thats ur question
