Need a new motor
Hey all, I'm lookin for a bit of info. My brother burned up the motor in our 1.5l 89 civic, and I'm lookin to buy a used motor. Does anyone know what motors will mate with the original tranny, and still fit in the engine compartment? Also if you know prices for suggested motors, please post them. Thanx

Any D-series SOHC motor will drop in and mate to your tranny, although this would be a good time to upgrade for realativley cheap. A D16Z6 SOHC VTEC will fit nicely in there and with the weight of a EF hatch, it'll be very quick! Seen a few 4G Civic's/CRX's with SOHC VTEC's at Moroso pull 14's on bolt on's, and complete D16Z's can be had for like $400.
it needs a lil work though.

chk the partstrader for a used d16z6 or d16y8 there should be some decent used ones available not to badly priced. there website is http://www.thepartstrader.com if u didn't already know that
http://www.sohfast.com sells tham too and they have a pretty good rep i have a couple of freinds that have gotten motors from them with no probs at all.
