ok so i have a 98 ej8, CAI, header, exhaust, and a stage 2 crower cam.
1) am i ob2a or obd2b and
2) what obd1 ecu should i use? i have heard that hondata would be the easiest way to see results and
3) would i need an adjustable cam gear to help with tuning the cam?

1. OBD2a
2. P28 is the easiest to find and works on tons of applications when chipped. Hondata, Crome, AEM, Neptune. Go with the engine management that your tuner is comfortable with. See the tuner directory here:

3. To maximize the cam that you have, yes, you need an adj. cam gear.

You will not see much of a gain in D-series, but with this cam, I think he will benefit some.

Run some ITR/CTR cams in a B-series turbo motor, adjust the cam gears and I promise you won't repeat your statement.
Run some BDC stage4's / Toda C's in a B-series all motor, adjust the cam gears and I promise you won't repeat your statement.
