i have a rebuilt pass. side and it works just fine. And as long as it doesnt make a aweful clicking noise i'm almost certain you can rebuild it.. Just buy a rebuild kit from autozone for like $35-$40

Rebuild kits, or better yet just fill it back up with grease and replace the boot. Spend the money on the boot band pliers because they make the job much easier.
