Can any one give me a list of the things I need to make my car run good. here whats in the car. Im using the 99 civic engine harness with the 99 civic ecu with the dx cabin harness. The car starts but there is no rpm and speedometer. The fan on the radiator doesn't turn on when the engine warms up. I looked on the web but can't find a list of things I need to buy to get my car running without No cell light. Please help! I don't want to spend more money than i need to. I just want to get the things that i need.

Theres a number of things that csn be wrong, your cluster could be bad and not working, the wires going into your distributor could no be connected or the sensor in your distibuter could be bad, your speed sensor can not be hooked up. You might need a new fan or tstat. And theres probably alot more that i cant think of right now.

For your rpms check the wires going into your distributor first and make sure everythings connected.
Same goes for the speed sensor which is located on your transmission.
Lastly jump your raditor fan with a paper clip and see if it turns on.

After youve done those 3 things get back to us.

Yeah can't use that harness. The 99-00 harness doesn't have the "A" plug

so which harness should i use. the 96-98 civic ex harness. do i need the obd2a to obd2b jumper harness to be compatable with my dx cabin harness. do i need the secondary o2 sensor harness also.

You can use your hatch harness and add wiring and extend 2nd O2 or use 96-98 EX engine harness and wire in the second O2. Then use OBD2A-OBD2B ECU adapter.

just out of curiosity cant he just use a EM1 harness and ECU since that car has the b16a2?

I have the same setup in my 97 hatch back all I did was use the dx harness, wire in vtec and knock sensor, perform the 2 wire iacv switch and get a obd2a-b harness, also had to extend o2 wires, check out http://technet.ff-squad.com/ theres a ton of wiring info in there good luck.

Can u give me the links to wire vtec and knock sensor and iacv switch,extend o2 sensors. Do u mean the obd2a-obd2b jumper harness. Do I need to get the o2 sensor plugs?

so after i mod my dx harness will there be any check engine light.....for example the Crank Fluctuation Sensor,fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor)....just wondering because i was checking the ffs technet pages....

If I remember correctly there will be three wires on your harness, one you dont need and the other 2 just color match them and solder them to your b16 ckp, you will however get the ftp sensor code, but it very rarely comes on in my car, the best way to get around that is to use a b16a3 ecu (p30 I believe) from the obd2 del sol but those are few and far between, you might run into an issue with the emissions sensor on the canister (forget what its called) which will throw a code that can also be eliminated with a b16a3 ecu, I personally am running the pt2 with a rywire conversion harness which works great but I do get codes no drivability issues however

ok...im going to use my dx harness this weekend and get that b16 running.
i have some questions. i using some 2 plug wires from my wifes d16y8 auto engine harness.

1. when i do the 3 wire to 2 wire conversion do i have to cut and splice the wires. can i just use a 2 plug connector and connect it to the ecu.

2. there is a grey and blue plug with the caps on them. what are they for.

3. when i took the 2 plug wires off the d16y8 harness one went to the ecu and one went to the blue and grey plug with the caps on them. do i have to do the same to the dx harness.

4. is the dx harness going to be long enough to be able to connect all the plugs. which plugs do i have to extend.

5. for the 2 plug wires one goes to the ecu and where does the other one go to....example...vtec s, knock sensor, oil pressure.....etc

For the iacv you will need the 2 wire plug and you need to color match those wires and re pin the orange wire on the ecu plug the other wire you can just cut off or de pin it

You will probably need to extend the map and tps wires make sure you solder them and use heat shrink otherwise you will run into issues later also do a resistance test from the ecu to the plug to make sure that you have a good connection

Post up a pic of the other plugs you have with the wire colors so we can see what they are

As far as the knock and vtec goes the knock sensor just get the plug to it and run the wire to the ecu and the vtec pressure switch has two wires on goes to ground and the other to the ecu and the selonoid has one wire that goes to the ecu refer to the ffs tech site for the pin locations making sure you use the obd2a not the b diagram

Got done wiring my dx harness. there are 2 plugs that I don't know where it goes..I'm thinking it's for the primary and secondary 02 sensors. Which one goes to which. There is a o2 sensor near the end of the header...my cat has a hole for the 02...but No plug. Do I need to get an 02 for the cat as well. I'm getting a cell po135 heater malfunction.
