Need Help on what to do with a D16
I have D16 non vtec sohc? I have 2 1/4 exhaust with no catalitics and a short air intake. I wanna learn how to do a mini me swap and also learn what a mini me swap is and if its worth doing. BTW the engine is in a 99 Civic four door.

Re: Need Help on what to do with a D16 (JDMFerio01)
Well basically to make it short, a mini-me swap basically means using a VTEC head and slappin it onto a non-vtec block,
typically the most common to use is a D16Y8 (found in the 96-00 6th gen Civics) or D16Z6 (found in the 5th gen 92-95 Civics) VTEC head and puttin it on a D16Y7 non-vtec block..
I would say for the cost it is worth doing, cause at times you can find the parts cheap and you can make some good power with proper tunning...
Here is a budget setup:
D16Z6 VTEC Head with all sensors
D16Y8 Intake and H22 Throttle Body
D16A1 Pistons (cheap upgrade that you can find at OEM Acura Dealerships)
99-00 Honda Civic EX SOHC VTEC ECU
That should be a good enough setup to get a bit more power out of your D-series motor..
For more info on the D-series motor go to this link

Re: Need Help on what to do with a D16 (EL-Driver)
your first move should be either a d16z6 (w/y8 intake manifold for better flowing) or d16y8 head..then add I/H/E clutch
