Need help on a trade for my Civic. helpppppppppp
so i have a civic 2dr coupe 1996.
nothing special, just black housing head lights, type r grill, lowered on skunk2s, nice pioneer deck, si light conversion, and some te37-like rims. and 110,xxx miles. n clean title.
FOR....
"Green Bronze" painted 1996 hatchback, poor mans type r (Gsr block with 2000 ITR head). b16 tranny with ITR final drive. ITR Intake manifold, ITR fuel injectors. and his cars clean title
he claims his motors roughly 65k
now i havent driven nor seen his car yet, we are planning on meeting up tomorrrow. but ima newb so lemme kno some things to look out for when i take a look at his car.
also lemme kno if this trade is good or not, seems good to me, almost too good to be true.

it sounds way to good to be true the best thing to do is probably meet up and head to a shop where u can get it up on a lift, make sure there arent any leaks. test drive it and make sure everything rides the way it should and look at the motor if it onlky has that many miles on it it shouldnt be that dirty. make sure the check engine ligjt isnt on and if it is i would recommend hooking it up to obd scanner

If this is a straight up trade, car for car and no money on your part, I think he's trying to unload a problem on to you. And I would say a fairly big problem at that. Sorry, but I think it's to good to be true as well.

Check for body damage evrywhere. check for any kind of fluid leak anywhere. expect regular wear and tear on the interior. check to see how sloppy the wires are on the swap. ask if its been wrecked or worked on for something technical. NEVER buy or trade for a car unless you've REALLY driven it. check for vtec, throttle response, all lights on the car everything. And remember your not obligated to it so if he's trying to jip you or it doesn't feel right you can just not do it. Let me know how it goes!

do you know the guy?
if this is a straight trade then it sounds a bit suspect to me, i was waiting for you to say "my car and 2 grand" or something...
if you do end up doing it make sure the thing can pass inspection, i know how it can be out in ca.

a good way to tell mileahe is by looking at the brake pedal if the rubber on the pedal is rubbed off partially that usually means there is more than 175000, i dont know how accurate this will be seeing as is a swap but its something to ask about (find out the miles on the original motor as well)

I agree. Sounds too good to be true.
Btw, you don't have an "Si headlight conversion". The Si headlights are the same as any other USDM '99-'00 Civic headlights. They're not like the '96-'98 headlights though.
