Need help with painting valve cover...
I want to have my valve cover semi-gloss black with the honda, vtec, and honda symbol in red.
Originally I painted the letters red and figured I would put masking tape over the letters, cut out the tape so it covers just the top of the letters and paint it black, but it turned out to be harder than I expected so I ended up just painting the whole thing black.
So I was wondering what would be the best way to paint the letters red at this point?
I was thinking maybe I could put paint on a sponge and carefully dab the top of the letters or use a fine paint brush but I don't know if this would leave a smooth finish...

you can spray the letters red first then let it dry and then you can put vasoline on the letters and paint the rest of the valve cover and this way the black paint wont stick to the letters
or you can do it the way you said by painting them with a brush

Why not just leave the Honda lettering alone? I think it would look better if it wasn't red. just my .02 But FxCkyoVTEC209's method would also work.

Well I already painted it black so it would be a pain to paint the letters red,put vasoline on the letters and then paint it black again....that's a good trick to know though.
And to ferio252 I painted my short ram intake half red and half black so I wanted to do the valve cover black with red letters to match....I also wanted to get red spark plug wires but the only ones they had at autozone were msd so they were expensive.
