NEED HELP!! i have a JDM b16 valve colver but my motor is b16a2.
I recently bought a motor that is a 99 b16a2 but the valve cover is a JDM b16 one. Im afraid my head is a JDM b16a and not the original b16a2. How can i make sure my head is not a JDM b16a. Any external distinctions to tell?? (numbers). Please, need help to all you b16 lovers!

First off all b-series vtec valve cover are the same besides color. Second it really doesnt matter the head is the same for US or JDM. Third there should be a year stamped in the front of the head and that will tell you what year it is. Forth if its a A2 block you should ask the person you got it from what year the head is and for what reason it has been changed.

the valve cover difference is that theres an H on it. hmmmm i thought that if the head was an EG b16 head, that itll be less power... where is the year located..? should i take off the heat shield of the headers to look there as well??

The H means very little, i have seen US and JDM motor with and without the H. Some valve covers also have DOHC bigger then VTEC and some have it smaller then DOHC. Take the heat shield off and look at the left side of the head towards the vtec sol right above the last exhaust port, in that area you should find a year.
1st gen 88-91 160hp (JDM) B16a
2nd gen 92-95 170hp(JDM) B16a
2nd gen 93-97 Del Sol 160hp (USDM) B16a3
3rd gen 99-00 160hp(USDM) B16a2
There are also a few jdm integras with b16a (XSI) but thats is the the easiest way to remember.

the head itself wont make up for the power differences between jdm and usdm engines. the bare castings are the exact same. valvetrain wise first gen b16 heads had different lma's and maybe different profile cams. im not sure on that point though. b16 and gsr heads have dual springs on the intake side and single springs on the exhaust. only itr heads have dual intake and exhaust springs.

Re: (Ron454321)
hm, im going to take off the heat shield to check later. thanks. i want my **** bar'd so id prefer it to be the original b16a2 head. So what you guys are saying is that the b16 heads are equally as powerful???
