Need help fast! 98 civic code14/ICV problem
i bought a 98 4door automatic civic, car needed a new transmission and supposively a new motor but it seemed to have ran fine. car came with the 5 speed swap, so i bought a new auto tranny and put the old wiring harness on the new motor and tranny. only problems im having is, on my old motor the IM has all the sensors on the throttle body, there are 3 of them. on the new motor that was from a 5 speed, there are 2 sensors on the throttle body and one on the back of the intake manifold (that is the idle control valve). the problem is that the new IM the ICV has a round clip that takes 2 wires, and the old IM took oval/rectangle clip with 3 wires. so i cut the old 2 wire clip off the old harness and wired it into the new harness leaving the extra wire out (an orange wire), car is running and driving fine but its putting out the CEL for the ICV. any way i can fix this without changing the intake manifold?! looking into just changing the throttle body, and leaving the extra sensor unplugged on the back of the IM, but i dont think that is going to work. if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this without changing the manifold, or just taking the CEL light out let me know! reply or email me at schugg05@msn.com

Re: Need help fast! 98 civic code14/ICV problem (schugg)
ok update, i changed the whole intake manifold back to the original one off the automatic. i noticed the water pipe on the block was different but didnt see it mattering. im still getting code 14, have reset the ecu (disconnected batter), at first i had some wires backwards on the clip that i had to re-wire up. and it would rev past 2rpms. switched 2 wires and it revs fine now but still get the code, even after resetting again. if anyone can get a picture with color labels for the wires on the ICV so i can make sure they are completely right let me know, or if you have a 98 auto civic and can check the green clip on the bottom/back part of the throttle let me know what order they go in, and from what side to what side. wires should be black with blue stripe, orange and yellow. or if there is anything else that could cause the code to KEEP coming back let me know
