Need help choosing cat-back
Hey what's up. I got a 95 civic ex and I am going to purchase an exhuast and a 2&1/4" test pipe within a week. My options are 5Zigen Fireball, Apexi N1, GReddy EVO. I want something thats loud but will still give 5-10 hp gains. I have heard that GReddy Evo's are really quiet, and that an Apexi N1 without the cat will be too loud. Any info on these exhaust systems would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Greddy evo is real sweet it may be quiet but when your crusing on the highway ask yourself if you want to hear your music or not, and plus it gives you good hp gains.

skunk2, by far the nicest looking and best sounding standard production catback imho... except for the mugen twinloop and possibly the fugitsubo catback which is all of a sudden getting alot of praise.
i had one on my 94, it makes power and has a perfect tone, alittle loud but not like the N1, and it goes over the rear lca so it wont scrape.
edit: do you want to clarify why you are only considering those 3?

What is the point in an exhaust from the cat back, your header is restrictive as crap anyways. I would say just go custom, like DIY instead of paying an insane amount of money for the same damn thing. Also for sound just slap on a different muffler if you want better sound, whats the difference between one metal pipe and another, sound is all in the muffler IMO.

The Evo system is nice. You don't want it to loud, it'll end up getting on your nerves. Also consider what you are looking to do w/ your engine setup in the future. If you want to go w/ higher HP get an exhaust that will be suitable. Do it once, do it right .

Most exhaust systems are coffecans (N1, Skunk2, Greddy) i don't know why people like how they sound. I guess the Greddy Evo sounds the best out those mentioned You need some piping no bigger than 2.5" or so. I'm going with the Apexi World Sport. I bought my car with the Evo on it but I'll sell it to you if you want it once I get the Apexi on.

i went with a hks hyper exhaust. it wasn't as big as the apexi and it isn't annoyingly loud but it turns some heads and i got tons of complements on it

Get the Apex-i N1, I have it on my 95 ex cp, and love it. It's not too loud, and gives the deepest sound, unmatched by any other brand.
sry not the best pic, but none the less a pic

Hey, after what you guys all said I think the apexi n1 is what im gonna go with. i don't care if its loud and it comes with a silencer anyway. how much louder will the test pipe make it? So with a Apexi exhaust and the test pipe, I can expect maybe 10hp considering I have headers and CAI.
Also, if anyone knows about ZC pistons in a d16z6. I'd like to know a little about what kind of performance gain they bring. Because that's a lot of work if its only
10hp.
And my friend was looking through ebay the other day and found this mugen p28 ecu chip for like $20, and says its supposed to give 10-20hp and loweres the vtec engagement to like 4200 and kicks the rev limit to like 9000rpm. WTF. is up with those things. Is that ligit or is it a waste of $20.
Hope I didn't ask too much. Thanks for all the info.

Re: Need help choosing cat-back (strtrcr86)
get the evo or n1. the zc pistons will work great in the z6 motor. also, get zc 3 & 4 gears for it and that mugen p28 is an AWESOME DEAL. get that too. it will raise the power probly by about that much.
