Need Help!... CEL on...code 65
I have a 97 civic DX that I did standard upgrade i/h/e. Stripped one of the O2 taking out of old CAT. purchased universal 4 wire O2. wired (plug-o2) white-blue, green-white, and blacks-blacks with non solder connectors. CEL came on, check it, it read 65. checked wiring with volt meter readings were .3-.5. Replaced o2 re-wired the same way, reset ecu, CEL still came on. I was told that SOHC seem to have this problem, is that true? I don't know what my next move should be? would an original O2 from the dealer solve my problem? Do you know of any links that could help me? I've searched the archives and wasn't able to find anything. My registration is due at the end of the month.... please help!!!!

From the O2 sensors that I've seen at the local auto parts stores, most are shitty (in terms of the people I know continued to have CELs come on). Might need an OEM piece and properly wired.

What o2 did you buy? Universal bosch? did they sell you the 17234? if so its the wrong one it might be 15234 not sure but either way its wrong. Call bosch up and make sure you have it wired right. If you do then ask them for the part# for the universal o2 for your car.

Thanks for replying I appreciate it. I purchased the o2 from a local import parts store. It's "Royze premium performance oxygen senosr 4-wire case ground with 6 ohm heater" #01H9240000 the part #250-24000. Looking at the intructions, up in the corner it has @2002 walker products. I have recently checked out http://www.oxygensensor.com and they have a couple oem o2. a walker brand and denso brand. the one that was stripped was a denso brand, does it matter on the brand or does it just matter that it's OEM? could the non-solder connections be causing my problems? or is it just a shitty o2. the guy at the import store said he put like 30 of these in hondas and hasn't had any problems.

Well, for starters, the Helms spec for the O2 heater resistance is 15-40 ohms....so your aftermarket O2 has already failed that spec. Will it throw a light....well, if it does, this could be the reason.
The non-solder connections can and do make a difference as well. If you search around a bit, you'll see that aftermarket O2's are iffy at best. Some people do have good luck with them...the majority seem not to.
