so what can I do to fix it? Or could I be low on oil? What should I check? The engine is hot so I can't really check oil.

usually that means that your pressure switch went bad.. it's the green plug on your vtec solenoid... ..

either your switch went bad, or your vtec wiring wasn't on tight enough.

True, I would check the wiring before taking and swapping the switch..

well actually that's true, because if it isn't getting the pressure it is supposed to then it will probably come on.. check the oil and the wiring.. if that isn't it, swap the switch..

my vtec stopped working, no cel, and it needed oil. stupid car burns oil. just check your oil level? shouldn't be a problem unless your oil is way below where it should be. so just pull out your dipstick and check.

Well will check oil in a bit when my car cools cuz i just finished driving. Hopefully its that. If not im taking it to the shop that did the swap he said hell check it out for free and all. So if it is the sensor he will replace it.

well it's not oil. Level is fine. Just checked it and I let the car sit for about 2 hours. It's at the top dot. Weird

did your car come with vtec in it?? if not then they had to do some wiring on the ECU plugs.. more than likely it is the pressure switch ..

well this is on my gsr swap. And my car had a y8 previously before that so wiring shouldn't be a problem.

Dented oil pan restricting oil flow to the pickup for the oil pump is also a possibility.

it could be possible, but i would say highly unlikely.. if he was just riding down the road and it came on, but it would be a good thing to check for just in case...

Damn cel 22 came back. It went away when it was replaced(sensor) with a ecu reset of course and never came back till today when I punched to like 6500-7000 rpm. And bamm cel 22. WTF!? I changed sensor so now what? The last time was the same also when I reved it high. I've done this after I replaced sensor and never did it till now

I am having the same problem with my Mini-Me swap. CEL comes on when Vtec is supposed to cross. Oil level is fine, wiring is dead on, soldered too so theres NO resistance in the circuit, Ventus Scanner pulls a 22-1 Oil pressure switch code. I am now on my 2nd vtec solenoid/OP Switch. This is probably the most frustrating problem I have had on my car to date. How many miles are on your motor, I am beginning to wonder if my oil pump is going bad. My block had approx 350-360K on it (swapped to an SI cluster at 326K about a year ago) And after looking at my records of service the previous owner gave to me, I notice it was replaced at 120K, but there was no reason stated on the work order, I suppose b/c all it was was a reciept. Anyways, also what ECU are you running on your car? How long did vtec work before you had this issue? Do you recall hitting any bad potholes or bottoming out recently? Any more detailed info would be greatly helpful in solving both of our problems here.

Oh I forgot to mention, try hooking up your car to a REAL scan tool, that paper clip trick works well in a tight situation, but a real scanner can give your much more detailed diagnostics. IE

When initially pulling the codes for my car a ground with a shady connection came loose and i recieved 2 codes, 22-1 Damn Oil Pressure Switch, and 22-2 Vtec Pressure Switch Electrical.

Might not be all the help in the world, but theres sometimes more to just a code 22 (or whatever you have) Go to Autozone if you cant find a reputable mechanic who will do it for less than 20 bucks, if they tell you it cant be done b/c your car is OBD1, they dont know what theyre talking about, even a cheap Nemesys scanner comes with an adapter to snap into the grey plug under the glovebox, just ask them to try, its free, and may provide more insight to the problem at hand. Also, are you burning any oil? Ever? Thanks man, good luck
