Nagging Problem
The other day, I was driving my car and noticed that fan speeds 1 and 2 are not functioning. 3 & 4 operate as normal, but on 1 & 2 there is no air blowing out of any vents. It does not matter if it is set on defrost, face, feet, both, etc. Could it be a bad contact, or maybe a bad fan motor?
I checked into the problem further with the car parked without the engine running. When I move the fan speed switch to 1 or 2 I hear a fan/electric motor start humming (coming from somewhere in the engine. However the fan inside the car (inside the firewall) does not turn on until speeds 3 & 4. I unplugged and then reseated the electric plug that plugs directly into the inside fan motor but that didn't remedy the problem.
Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Luke

it is likely the blower resistor. It is behind the glove compartment and has a plug going into it. Take it out and inspect it. There are 4 coiled wires. make sure they are still intact. Otherwise, you will need a new one or you might be able to twist them back together or solder them. If not, go to a wrecking yard and get a new one. Should only be like $0-$5.
