Default n00b intro with pics and questions

Just wanted to say hi and officially join the posting populace here on HT. I am primarilly a Nissan guy. I own in addition to my 92 Civic a sr20det equipped 240sx.

My main goal right now is to join ECHC after I get my racing licence. I have been to a couple of HPDE through NASA but still in novice. So my questions are:

1. is it really feasible to race a four door (I know there is a civic wagon)
2. will I need tons of chasis reinforcement?
3. what are suggestions on taking the right track to w2w racing

Since I still have a lot of learning to do most of my lurking here has been strictly research and will remain that way. Just wanted to get any and all suggestions for my plans.

I have a 3 yr plan:
-keep going to HPDEs and progress as a driver
-enter racing school and get licenced
-build the civic continuously
brakes
suspension
rubber
cooling
safety
power
-then finally w2w
-hopefully sponsership

Comments and suggestions are welcome. ::hoping to not have to put on flame retardant suit::

LOL, were you down in the VA Tech area a little before X-mas? I was right behind a 240 that looked just like yours (I remember, because I was laughing at what looked like two fart pipes put together for an exhaust, no offense )

But, anyway. I know a couple people that race their four doors, some argue that the longer wheelbase is better. I haven't raced with one to see if that is the case or not.

BTW, way to be a good n00b! You did the same thing I did (still kinda do)...lurked in the shadows for a while and researched.

-No sil80 for me. I don't think they look right. I have only seen one fastback that looked good w/ the silvia front end. Plus she is strictly go and no show.

-No I wasn't in the VA Tech region. I was up in Md for the meet there.

Just FYI she dyno'd at 230hp 252lb/ft @ 14lbs with bolt-ons

I have never drifted before. But at the track the thing runs like shes on fire. Main problem is judging when the boost will come in exiting corners.

I can't afford to drift either...tires, clutches, tires, suspension, tires, wheels...curbs

I know that car, I talked to you with @ the Lake Burke meet, I told her about seeing you doing your work @ Bolling. I owed the White Civic Hatch that was behind you on the way down to the meet. Do the 4-door, I would say try the autocross racing forum too, or maybe a member named chad can answer your questions too, he is a really nice guy, I am sure he could help you also.

how much does a sr20 swap run for? are they as easy to install as a honda engine? and how nice does the sr20det sound? i hear its one of the best sounding engines in the import world(extremely high prices excluded). oh and how much do you pay for insurance on that car? i bet its less cause its older but it is a 2dr 4 seater.

-If I am not mistakend heavy-throttle started in MA so you may want to give Jeff or Yuri a call about swapping your engine (The guys I bought my SR from) http://www.srswap.com

-The 240 is a blast I just don't fit anywhere in the racing arena w/ my current setup

-The car+engine+mods=$8k for me I did everything on a budget and my insurance is $70 per month (they don't know I have the swap)
BTW she sounds awsome w/ the Apexi' N1 dual exhaust (when I don't have leaks )

-there is a guy that is putting a FWD SR from a Sunny GTiR in a Si. Should be pretty sick considering that the GTiRs come w/ the t28 and 220hp stock. With mods they will see 300hp easy

And I will never get rid of my 240! I have had it for 6yrs now and there is way too much blood, sweat, and skin from me in that car. She taught me how to work on cars...the hard way

Hhaha right now i am contemplating between a 89-94 fastback or a 92-95 hatchbackcivic... the fast backs i can find easily for about 2.5k and the civic is about 3k.... im looking to spend 2000 on the car ... the sr20det s13 is about 2500 and the b18c is about 3200. ERrr big dilemma.. i really have no idea what to choose. Im going out tommorrow to check out this civic hatch for 2000 '92 w/ 140K mi
