no, you hit something. might have been underinflated, but that right there is belt separation caused from a pothole, curb etc. only cure is a new tire. i suggest getting one asap.

I had that happen to me before, the tire shop said I needed a new tire, because the tire was no longer safe like that. They said it was caused by hitting a pot hole, and the inside the tire became damaged at that spot, hence what you're seeing on the tire.

Re: (blaster834)
its not a defect, its because he has a broken belt inside the tire that is used to stiffen the side walls, and yes hitting a pothole will cause that to happen because it puts rediculous amounts of strain on the sidewalls especially at the point of impact, but if you have the tire warranty thing that most places sellyou should be able to get another tire for free

Re: (unbelievableEG)
yep, popped inner belt, by the size of it, quite a few.
the bad ones are the ones that simply pop on the inner sidewall of the tire and you dont think to run your hands along that sidewall until its too late and it finally gives out.
I saw tons of busted belt tires of all kinds back in college at my summer job in sams' club tire area.

ya the exact thing happened to me, i hit some train tracks, holy **** i thought i bent my rim, but thankfully i didnt but i had the intelligence to run my hand over the sidewall and sure enough there was a slight bulge and had it replaced for free, cant beat that

Re: my tire has a tumor (93CivicSI)
remember if its gotten a lotta mileage on it, to replace both tires ( 2 rear tires) cause ya gotta get em in pairs. having one new and one old is bad.

hehe...
I've had one of those before. It was on the inside wall when I first bought my civic.
The tires were old and crappy anyway.
I was scared to drive it though...for fear of a blow out! LOL
