Default My Review on Kyokugen Lug nuts

I have had these lug nuts for about a year now...and I agree that these are "ok" lug nuts but they have given me problems...You shouldn't have problems with Lug nuts to begin with..this is why i give kyokugen a bad rating...I have had them for about a year and they are stripping...I am currently trying to take off my wheels for the winter and the damn key is stripping on me...I should have invested in some Mcgards...I regret it..and will soon ditch these worthless lug nuts...They should have made the key of better quality...The key is stripping and i hand tightened these lug nuts to begin with. I didn't even over tightened them because i was warned on the box to not over tighten them. They could have better designed this key most definitely...many others have had the same problem...When i was looking for lug locks i should have listened to those warning posts on honda-tech...now im paying for it...Just info for the next person investing in some lug nuts. Invest in some Mcgards....they have been around for a long time..and they specialize in lug nuts..why shouldn't their stuff be the best right??

Well I guess me and 3 of my friends got some special batches then, because 3 of us have owned the Kyokegens for over a year and have not had one single problem.

NONE.

Then again I always use a torque wrench.

Yeah I know Ryan, but that's what people tell us yet we're still having no problems out of them.

Believe me as soon as I have troubles everyone will know - if that happens.

Are these problems occuring with the lug KEY itself?

One thing I've heard that might remedy that problem is to grind down a very small portion of the end off the key, thus geting rid of the weakest part of the key that can spread out.

For all of you having problems, I'm just here to tell you that not one person I know personally has had a problem with these lugs yet.

I`ve seen the key strip and the lug itself. Including Myself, I know of about 10 bad sets.

B18C5-EH2, if you have 3 good sets you may want to save them for the kyokugen museum someday. neither i nor any of my friends or anyone i know for that matter has had luck with these, i always us a torque wrench and am always most careful, still they are a pain, they strip, its all the key's fault. you can purchase new keys, but i've never seen one.

the problem isnt the nuts themselves but its the key that sucks. The key is to big for the nut and dont grip it right. thats why i took mine off

depends on your style.
mcgard makes some that match their tner locks nicely and don't have any problems.

do you need open end? what kind of seat? color?

I have mine over 1 year and a few months. Still counting. No problems what so ever. As of matter of fact. I rotate my tires every 3,000 miles (roughly every month).

I do used a torque wrench every time.

The problems I see in the past is that alot of people tend to used a air impact gun. NO NO NO, whereas the key itself wears out with the impact.

Anyways, I love mine.

By the way, I think I have about 5 people local that have the same lugs-nuts as I do. No bitchn from them either.

I've never had any problems with my brothers' or b19civichb's kyokugens...but we use a 1/2 drive rachet to get em off and a torque wrench to put em on. I think that if you treat the parts on your car with patience, it doesn't matter what brand they are, they'll last plenty long and do their job admirably.

Maybe they strip easily as a preventitive measure. Thieves in a rush are usually pretty rough with cars...if the kyo. lugs strip real easilly, they don't get the wheels. Just an idea

I can't even begin to tell you how many sets of those I went through. I think I have enough extras from the 5 lugs they send you to compose another brand new set of lugs for a car...Too bad they are worthless. I got some random thick lugnuts from a tire shop...And those old school Gorilla locks. I've taken my wheels off more times than a ***** takes off her panties and have not had a problem yet.
