My remote radar detector install...what do you think?
I did the install this weekend, it came out good. Just giving you guys a heads up, if you're looking for a radar detector go to whistler's website. the DE3300 normally sells for mid 200's and they are getting rid of them for $70. its really nice, especially for the money.
Here are some pics:
Display Unit...fits good and doesn't actually block any of the guages.
Laser Sensors
Radar Sensor...the instructions said that was the "optimal" angle in case you're wondering why its crooked. Its the best spot I could think of...can anyone else think of a better spot for it? There can not be any metal blocking it.
Temp Probe...surprise to me, but its actually pretty accurate.

Looks good! I dunno if it gets my vote though......not FCC approved
Nice job J! Now you'll know exactly to what degree you'll be freezing your nuts off this winter

whistler didnt really score very well on any of the detector comparisons i saw.....i wouldnt buy it even for $70.
V1 is where its at, costs a lot but hey....shouldnt be speeding in the first place.

pics work...
only review i ever read on it was radar-test.com, although i hear they are pretty biased. even so, it got a pretty good review on there. if i was looking to spend several hundred i would get a V1...but this will do just fine.

V1 is good.....but I support passport. Robb Report cant be wrong if they put them in their Ferarri Enzo's and Lambo Diablo's

how is the accuracy of the radar with the unit being mounted so low? Or does it even matter how high or low the unit is mounted? Let me know Thanks Ryan

Very nice..
this pic is old and car has changed much since then but here is my bel vector lr remote is installed in my ashtry and cant be seen by thieves.. VAFC and tach are no longer there cause they were up for grabs if i left windows down one day and a theive wanted them.. bel and v1 are among the best i think but if what you got works then its good enough then..

i'm not sure how it being low will efffect the accuracy. its the only spot i could come up with...any higher and that horizontal bar will be blocking it, plus i can't put it where it will be blocked by the license plate.

I just assumed that it being so low it would detect under the radar that the cops are pointing at you, I have mine ghetto rigged right behind the front grill, I think I am going to chenge mine to that location since its not going to hurt the accuracy of the unit, install looks good though. I have my display mounted in the same place and the laser detector in the same place as well.

yeah, i think my reply was unclear. i agree that it might effect its accuracy, but i'm not sure. i don't think a radar signal is like laser where its just a single beam. i thing its pretty widespread so i think it will be alright...but i dont really know. but its the best spot i could come up with.

Lazer dectector has to be line sight. Radar dectector can have a lil stuff in front of it. But not enough to block the waves, like steel. Anyone want to say how good a cobra radar is??? I seems to do the job for me, but just wonderin if anoyone else knows if he other brands dectect weaker signals and can tell their for real or not.
