Default is my headgasket bad?

Well there was an unusual amount of spray coming out of my exhaust and I read up on some threads on the forums. Some said that a bad headgasket could be the cause of this. I also read that a white residue around the radiator cap area is a sign of oil in the fluid so I check my radiator and surely enough its white.

My question is: Is the white residue a sure sign of a bad headgasket?

- I've done a motor swap myself, Do you think changing the headgasket is going to be difficult for doing it the first time?

- Will a bad headgasket cause the motor to have difficulty starting up?

- This question is off but, When you set the car to TDC and "UP" on the cam pully and start the car, Is it supposed to end up on TDC and "UP" when you turn it off also?

no it would be pure luck if that did happen.

did your car lose power or blow out alot of thick white smoke??

pull your dipstick and see if there is water/coolant on it. if so then it needs replaced.

check your oil or do a oil change and see if its milky.

flush coolant and see if u can see any oil.

Large amount of white smoke when its warm out is a good sign of headgasket problems.

Overheating very quickly is also a sign. change the thermostat with HONDA thermostat and if it still happens most likely ur head gasket

well there is no thicks white smoke at all, nothing far from normal in terms of exhaust smoke. When it was cold in the winter it did smoke up white a WHOLE LOT, but i think that was just because it was winter.

The thing that sucks is the idiot that i bought my shell from removed the temp dial out of the gauge cluster. Oh yeah, and my thermostat is leaking, if that makes any difference

I'm not able to notice any loss in power, because this motor was a direct swap and I dont know what it ran like before. This water out of exhaust issue has been existant since i swapped the motor into the car though
