My First EJ2 Build Thread
Alright so as the title thread this is a budget build thread and is mainly built from unemployment funds, so function and cheap looks is my main goal as of right now. My Main goal is to complete my LS swap and DD this car for awhile until I get a new job and buy another car. Will start collecting parts later to build a turbo LS or LSVtec havent quite decided yet, they are close in cost from what I've seen and reasearched.
No pics of how I got the car but here is the second day I had it.But I did buy it for 1000 cash, interior is amazing, and it has some gsr hammers with almost no tires. It had a half assed D16Y8 swap in it, so I quickly pulled it out and sold it and the transmission for 700.
We pulled out it the bottom from lack of a cherry picker. Made a cheap wood cart from some casters and 2x4's.
My friend says jacking the car up and going out the bottom is the JDM way :p
The Y8 Right before I sold it. Turns out when my buddy pulled it apart the bottom end was like 5 miles from being gone, huge chunks of metal in the oil pan and all. I lol'd at the AEM fuel rail and cool oil cap.
More to come, and lots of pics!

Re: 94 EJ Coupe Build Thread (Budget Unemployment Build)
This next picture is of me and my friend driving 4 hours to pick up a complete b18b1 longblock from a guy, we put it in the back of a Chrysler crossfire and drove it back lol.
Next I picked up a Hasport EGBCC kit for 166 shipped brand new, because I bought a cable tranny from my friend cause I couldnt find anything cheaper, but hey you cant beat it for 150 with exedy clutch and flywheel.
Heres the motor put together sitting on the cart waiting to go in. Still a bit dirty but way way way better than when I got it. I only replaced the oil pan gasket and valve cover gasket for now since they were leaking pretty bad, I'll do the timing belt and water pump next month most likely.
Heres some pics of the Hasport EGBCC kit, incase anyone is wondering how it works. It fits like a glove and only took about 10 minutes to install.

Re: 94 EJ Coupe Build Thread (Budget Unemployment Build)
Heres a pic of the motor finally in the car as it sits today, all I have left to do is bleed the clutch, install the T bracket motor mount, add tranny fluid, drill old bolts on the exhaust and go.
Also picked up some brand new Kuhmo Ecsta AST 205/50/R15 for 314 Shipped, with a 100 dollar mail in rebate. It was an amazing deal I couldnt pass up and I sold a bunch of honda parts this weekend so it worked out well.
Which tranny fluid do you guys suggest for a YS1 cable transmission?
My friend at the honda dealership said Royal purple sychromesh and some motor oil, but I'm still a firm believer in the Honda MTF. Any input would be appreciated.
Also will be running a OBD1 P75 with auto to manual conversion on the board, anyone else got this? And I also used brand new axles for a 95 integra with a 95 integra midshaft from auto tranny, it seems to all fit right but not 100 percent sure till I drive it.

Kinda kills two birds with one stone, and gains you like 30whp or more.
Although if you do the auto to five speed swap I would recommend if possible to gather everypart and do it in one day instead of having your car down for weeks like me :p

Re: 94 EJ Coupe Build Thread (Budget Unemployment Build)
So all I've done today is put the exhaust, which led to another problem. Any easy ideas to fix this? I'm about to just take it to the exhaust shop they said 40 bucks to cut, turn and reweld it.
Ive also got a pic of my shiny new shoes!
But left with this right now put my little strut tower bar on
Still need suggestions for the MTF, I'm about to go with Honda Genuine MTF if I don't get any other ideas. I'm also going to try and bleed the clutch here in a little while, I really really hate bleeding them.

Honda MTF is the best for most drivers. Unless you're racing your car on a weekly basis or something that is all I would run.
Honda MTF is the ****.

As far as exhaust goes I don't have much money to get a new one and haven't seen one on CL, so unless I go flex pipe I guess its cut and weld, I wish there was a easy way to turn those flanges. Also plan on boosting sometime in the next year and a half so don't want to have to sell a shiny new header for half price later on down the road.

Thanks man Been driving her stock for 6 years in order to do it right when I got around to it.
As far as the exhaust goes, I've had pretty good experiences with "redneck" shops around me for minor work. Usually really cheap too just to solve some pretty minor fitment issues or what have you.

Yeah I mean I would just go ahead and do the whole LS swap while you have everything out, it would be a small amount more to do the LS swap.

Re: 94 EJ Coupe Build Thread (Budget Unemployment Build)
Thank for the exhaust tips guys, I might take it to a Mexican up the street and get him to do it or atleast use his mig welder. The header back on my car is all custom either 2.5 or 3 inch it's a big pipe with no cat to a stock civic muffler. Sounded like *** with the y8 and an exhaust leak lol.

Re: 94 EJ Coupe Build Thread (Budget Unemployment Build)
Then sold the trans to another friend for his girls car cause her trans went out, then parted all the little pieces out and traded some for parts I needed.
Best advice is dont bundle major items, sell them for cheap tho, at first I was ready to give the full swap up for 500 with everything but then I ended up separating some stuff. I realize it's impossible to sell the last things I got (d series mounts, linkage, and starter)
But anyways update today no pics yet but I have everything ready to run I'm going to disconnect the spark plugs today and crank it over a couple times to get the oil pump flowing since it's been bone dry on oil for awhile. Then hopefully it starts first try, gotta find jumper cables first tho :p
Also picked up a nice mint ex cluster from pic n pull with the tach for 30, only sucks cause it's an auto cluster :/
But shout out to hasport for the support on getting my egbcc kit going and bled, the pedal feels amazing much better response then when I first got the car.
