My EJ1 coupe winter build.
So this is gunna be the winter build for my EJ1 coupe. The plan is Paint, Suspension, and Motor. The current set up is a black body got its dings and dents, and stock beat suspension, with a B16. Long story short I cant bolt the half shaft mount to the block with two of the three bolts. So I stoped driving it, and bought a LS motor from friend that ended up having a spun bearing (got the motor for 25 bucks) so my original plan was an all motor ls vtec. more and more i thought abuot it i turned to a boost build. so my plan is...
block
-everything needed to run vtec head and turbo, such as oil lines and etc.
-reround cylinder walls in the b18 to 81.5mm
-either CP or JE low compression forged pistons, new rings and wrist pins and etc.
-eagle forged rods
-crank ground down
-all new rod and main bearings
-whole rotating assembly balanced
head
-everything nessesary to run the vtec and turbo, such as oil lines and etc.
-full sk2 valve train, (forged valves, titanium retainers, and new valve springs)
-stock b16 cams or ITR if i can find a cheap enough set
-new fuel rail with new injectors (still open to suggestions)
-REAL Skunk Pro 2 manifold
Turbo (this is where i need help)
-garrett or turbonetics t3/t4 turbo
-intercooler (idk what size or kind to get so need help)
-blowoff valve and wastegate idk what kinds to get either yet.
-piping was probly just gunna be like ebay piping or somthing like that
-header have no clue what kind i want yet open to suggestions.
gunna be dyno tuned on a S300. would like to hear some reputable dealers in CT if anyone knows of any.
and my power goal is about 350 but really anywhere from 300-400, and gunna let tuner decide where it will sit best in that range for a dd.
body
is getting all celaned up removing the minor dings and dents, new front and rear bumper covers, maybe jdm front fenders. foggies. skunk coilovers. jdm headlights and amber corners.
and body, bay, all door jams, and etc getting painted either championship white, or blackberry pearl. would like to see some ej1 coupes in both colors if out there havnt found many pics to make a straight decision yet but ya.
and if i missed anything i need or someone has a suggestion let me hear them. cause this is gunna be a slow build done right.

Sounds like a good build, count me in. Unfortunately, I don't know much about forced induction so I can't really answer your questions.

Re: My EJ1 coupe winter build.
and i need help in deciding what exhuast to run. i want one thats quite (i know once the wastegate opens it wont be any more lol) but quite when driving around town, and not flashy, aka has to look as stock as possible. for two reasons, i like the sleeper aproach, and cops in my town are like OMG EXHUAST PULL HIM OVER AND GIVE EVERY TICKET POSSIBLE.

Re: My EJ1 coupe winter build.
Vibrant street power flat black muffler, 18in vibrant res, and 3in Kteller piping kit. Love mine.
Good luck with the build, I wish I had my motor done already so I can drive a turbo car.

Re: My EJ1 coupe winter build.
Well piping was 240 and the muffler is 100 I think and I believe the res is 70. Piping comes with all flanges and hangers and is stainless.
I'm not sure the price of the muffler and res cause I got it at a local shop very discounted.
But yea I'm taking my time as well, as of now it sucks but it will all pay off next summer hopefully.

Re: My EJ1 coupe winter build.
Disregard the chatter of my input bearing and the crooked exhaust as I need to fix that. Ha
But you get the idea and it sounds a lot better in person this is just an iPhone video.

3 inches all the way back. Yea I am pretty glad it isn't TOO loud still alittle loud for me, but it should quiet down once it is finally boosted.

Re: My EJ1 coupe winter build.
and if anyone knows of a cheap (let me rephrase that cheapish) mugen twin loop muffler lmk, been interested in those too.
and as for the header a little update. my buddy goes to school down in PA somewhere and i guess his school is a honda and diesel tech school. so hes gunna see if someone can make/get me a nice turbo manifold. and he is searching for a t3/t4 turbo for me.
