My EG speedo cluster & climate control in amber - done right
The Yellow Box is a speedo calibrator. I've always liked the look of the JDM white cluster, but felt it's pointless to run KPH in a MPH world. Then I found this...allows you to make minor corrections or a complete conversion from KPH->MPH. Now I have a 180MPH speedo, white faces, amber lighting, a working low-fuel light, and door open indicators.
Oh, and I took the cluster to Palo Alto Speedometer to have the odometer set to my existing mileage, so it's all legit.

I just did this today, but instead of getting the lamp repair kit, I pulled the 2 bulbs with blue condoms out and replaced the bulbs with 24NA bulbs, looks great, now I just need to figure out the clock, I've done it twice and wasn't happy with the results.
^That looks nice, get us a night shot plz?
Although I will say that its not the way this DIY is about since that bulb is also going to make the climate graphic amber whereas if you used the lamp repair kit the graphic would stay blue/red.
As for the clock, I did mine and it looks so nice in person. I cut the dimmer switch as well so its nice and bright in the day and night.
The lamp repair kit came with red strips as well so I used a small piece of it and the transparent tape it comes with and it was super easy to do and the color is on point. Very similar to the JDM clock.
I also used an amber folder tab with a red folder tab to create a similar amber and it came out good too. Not as good as the red strip though since it wasn't as bright and the color wasn't as good but I still would say its good. It also was slightly blurry whereas the red strip was sharp to see.
Shoulda gotten the lamp repair kit

Do you have pics of the other bulbs installed? Sorry, if I missed it but how did your original bulbs hold up, have you changed them, hows the output and what not. Good thread I'm putting it on the to-do list
I would think that the proper way to do it is actually get all the jdm amber parts but none the less it looks good. Where can i get this lamp repair kit cause my clock looks blurry like in that photo maybe ill just get the amber clock.
Bump. Has anybody done this bulb swap to a JDM EG6 cluster? I would love to have mine light up bright like these. Definitely a good write up
I've since switched to a JDM cluster, and I'm sorry to say that even swapping the Autozone amber bulbs won't make a difference...that particular cluster is dim no matter what bulbs you put in. If you swap out the circuit backplane/film to a USDM version, these will be brighter.

Oh, perhaps it won't make a difference. Odd that swapping the PCB doesn't change anything. I don't think the SiR cluster will be any different than the VTi.

Yeah I figured that swapping PCBs would help, but it didn't. I really love these clusters, I just wish they would light up a little brighter
You can also go through http://www.superbrightleds.com, and get colored LEDs to replace the bulbs. That's what I did to go blue.
See the original posting to see why I chose not to go with LEDs. I don't like hot spots in my lighting.

Sorry for the old bump but I'd like to add a bit of info and ask a few questions..!
Just installed my new JDM EG6 cluster into my my EG5 but completely forgot about the whole dark/Dim lighting thing with the Jap units including no dimmer function!
Last EG5 I had also with a JDM EG6 cluster, I simply installed the brightest LED's I could find and lived with the patchy dim lit cluster till I sold her.
This time the plan was to swap out the EG6 white face/gauges and pots into the the EG5 cluster...
Should have been simply enough and we all know Honda love re-using parts and molds across multiple models to save on production costs........... Well not this time!
The EG6 face/gauges/pots sit higher in the in cluster so the dial shrouds are flush with the white face plates to stop light sneaking out from round the edges, so due to this the EG6 mounting holes/brackets end up being higher and in turn they don't fit into the EG6 cluster properly or safely.
The EG5 on the other hand has thick clear rings round each dial on the shroud to allow light from the edges to add illumination and why they sit lower in the cluster.
So I decided to try swapping over the EG5 rubber PCB board into the EG6 cluster as its only really one pin difference between the two
Seems to have worked quite well including brighter dials full dimmer function.
Attached photos are with the very old faded stock bulbs well overdue for replacing and upgrading to brighter ones.
So to my question, what's the best colour match for the JDM EG6 orange?
