Is my D15z screwed or Is it fixable?
K, So here's my issue
As I was driving, my car was sputtering
There was sometimes a almost no feel in the gas pedal at the time of sputtering
The car used to do that before but it always over heated
Once I swapped my standard D15 for a D15z (1.5 SOHC V-Tec), the Over heating stopped
But Just yesterday the sputtering started AGAIN.
But it would Sputter, then run fine, then sputter again
So I came to a stop at a light, and then started driving again
As i hit 2nd gear, there was a slight "Tink" sound and slight jerk
The sound came from the front
Automatically I'm thinking the worse, Engine busted.
So i take off the valve cover and check the timing belt.
Reason for that was because last time my car just stopped running was the head seized and ripped the Timing belt
I replaced the head and car ran again, So i thought maybe it was a repeat
But it's not. The timing belt is on and nice and tight
So i hit the spark plugs with some electric cleaner and tried starting again. but no luck
A mechanic said it might be the fuel pump, that the sputtering could've been from a bad fuel pump and the engine won't start because its not getting any fuel
But as i turn on the ignition you can clearly hear the fuel pump engage
I even unpluged the electric cord and repluged to see if the sound was the fuel pump itself...it was.
So that rules out the fuel pump
There was also an oil leak. When i drove the car, there no oil on the dip stick
So i added 1 quart. I drove the car about 250 miles before it just stopped
Now when it stopped, I drove over a huge puddle
Now when i check the dip stick its past the suggested mark, about a 1/4 inch
So here's what I'm thinking.
I'm thinking either I ran over the puddle and water got into my Cold Air Intake and was fed into my engine
And now my engine is flooded with water and oil so it's not turning
OR The motor is just broke.
The car never over heated or went past normal temperature
As i turn the key, you see the lights on the dash dim, but no cough.
You can ALMOST feel the engine want to begin to turn but not move.
So What do you guys think it is?
What easy fixes can i try first before i throw in the towel?
Thanks, appreciate your time

First thing to do is pull the plugs and do a compression test.
Might be hydrolocked.Might have a bent rod. Might have cracked a sleeve. Or you my have gotten really really lucky...
Driving over huge puddles with a cold air intake is not a good idea my friend...

Easiest and most accurate way is to just have a shop do it. They have all the tools and knowledge to do one properly...Otherwise youll have to find a ride to the autoparts store, rent theirs, pull your spark plugs, disable your fuel, get someone to crank and floor the gas pedal while you read the guage...
If your not semi-mechanically inclined, Id just hire someone to do it....
Just for ***** and giggles, pull all your plugs out and crank the engine over.

everytime ive done a compression test, ive only turned the motor over
without giving it gas.

so your engine sucks in as much air as it can for an accurate compression test. also you can do that in newer cars and not have to disable your fuel because it puts your car in a flood clear mode where it fires but dosnt add fuel in case your a dumb *** and flooded your engine. if you heard the tink right as you went through the puddle there is no coincidence you hydro locked it. and yes your f'ed i hydro locked a motor and got lucky with just having to replace rods i got off craigslist for $25. but there was no tink. if you heard a tink you broke something. good news a d15 short block is like $50 around here.
