My Civic Died
Ok my civic took a turn for the worse. I recently blew my head gasket like 2 maybe 3 months ago and had everything replaced, all my belts : timing, AC, PS, Alt and changed the water pump and tensioner. Just recently it started dying on me, while driving it was smoking a lot out of the exhaust and when I hit the gas it felt like it didnt want to accelerate, its an auto by the way. Had it towed home. Did a leak test and there was no leakage. Right now it runs but it sounds like cylinder 1 or 2 isnt firing. My car sounds really crappy. I want to swap, but I'm on a low budget. Any ideas and is there anywhere in Southern California that does swaps for a good price?

does the exhaust tone kinda in any way sound like a WRX rumble? If so i had this exhaust tone and all my cylinders were mis-firing(douche-bag who didn't know wiring installed VAFC on GSR awhile back when i had it and the VAFC bad hook up fucked my whole motor over til i had it reinstalled professionally) so make sure all wires to your ECU are hooked up fine. then if that doesn't work i can't help further.

did they install the timing belt correctly? Maybe it is a few teeth off or something like that. It is worth a look. What color is the smoke that is comming out of the exhaust?

I'm telling you to check your wiring first before you go into your engine bay
It's really easy...if all wires are in harness secured correctly than this isnt the problem, but check for a loose wire somewhere on your ECU harness. good luck

hey bro don't listen to them wanabees import mechanic...from my own experience i had the same situation...i made a hard turn and blew my head and notice that white smoke was coming from my exhaust and my engine...thats when i notice that when i give it some gas it would kick in....so my advice to u is sell it or do a swap with a better engine and don't try to be a racer with an auto because its just lame....no offense auto. driver....

Re: My Civic Died (censurebush)
I was thinking B16. There is a guy in Lake Forest (if you know where that is) that has a used B16 for $500, yeah too good to be true. He said the piston rings need to be replaced. By the way, how hard is it do to an Auto to Manual swap? And are there shops in Southern California able to do this? I asked Inlinefour and they told me $1000 alone for doing the swap, thats just labor

Dude, your post wasn't informative at all. "them wannabees import mechanic" are giving good tips for what to look for.
There is no reason to get a swap that isn't affordable if his problem can be fixed with a little time and patience.
Good luck with it man
btw, is this a single cam or dual cam engine? I guess I missed it...

Re: My Civic Died (Squallie)
I have my old D15Z1 for sale... complete enough for you to install, it does burn some oil, by the time you need an oil change, the oil will be around the low dot on the dipstick. Its a stick of course, so you can convert your car... You will need to add a couple wires to make the wideband o2 and EGR work, I think I am missing a MAP, but you can use your old one. PM me if you are interested, the wideband o2 is almost brand new...like 15k miles, engine has about 145k. transmission is great.

Re: My Civic Died (Chilly61383)
I got my **** running...GO ME! It was the headgasket again, the head bolts weren't torqued right( THANKS DAD!), u think u can trust an ASE certified mechanic, especially if hes your father. Thanks for the advice guys, but does anyone know where I can get an affordable O2 sensor, Honda has it for almost $300 its like 2 something. Autozone and Pepboys got it for like $75 anywhere else that might be cheaper?

Re: (AlexanderTheGreat)
Why would I want a 14 sec car? I just need a point A to B car. Might get the new Si thats coming out. Or wait and see how the CRX thats hitting in 2007 is like. So thanks but no thanks on the not so helpful advice.
