here is a pic of the old school mugen valve cover

i don't think it will fit your d16y8

Looks like a D16A6 1988-1991 SOHC Si motor.

But that looks like maybe a cast copy or something, because like asked before:

Where's the oil fill hole?
I think it's taped off because they were painting it..

Yes, that is THE question! I'd be willing to bet these same ppl entertain themselves by watching movies containing computer-generated animation scenes, correographed wrestling shows on TV, ********** late at night to porno pix, play online games, and so forth, without giving it a thought - yet it goes against their code of ethics if a valve cover is "fake." Please!!!

Mugen only made one valve cover and it was for the B series motor. It was only made in one color and was around $800.

The $295 for the imitation SOHC Mugen cover is a rip off! My shop had the same covers in blue and red for $180 out the door.

the tenzo lookin covers for the new civics are fake..

but during 91 and under mugen had quite a few sohc/d series products, do a search and read up a lil on your mugen history.

the old school 1200 civic guys are blessed with a plethora of mugen parts.

mugen also had full zc 1.6 bottom end, sohc carb manifolds, etc etc.

that might particular valve cover might be off an old race motor that used a different type of oiling system. i have seen formula atlantic,f3, etc etc valve covers that have no oil hole in the valve cover.

The question is would you want to pay $250.00 for a valve cover?

Well I have authentic:

Mugen Meter Undervisor
Mugen Auto Tranny pedals
Mugen High Performance Strut Tower Bar (Front)
Mugen Front Under Spoiler Kit

I will be getting a mugen decal that goes along the sides of my car... i kinda want to add this.

how can strut bars be "high performance" ?

Buddy.... Just because it isn't available for sale right now, does not mean that Mugen never made it. Try finding RnR's for sale on the King site....
Oh and in case people missed my earlier post I was at King Motorsports (I live 30 minutes away) and they have a SOHC non-vtec Mugen valve cover on display there for everyone to see. But I'm not sure if its for sale.

Thats somewhat true, but thats just what Mugen calls their strut bars, and go to the King site and look at them, their fairly badass.

I admit it, I stand corrected. I've only seen the newer imitation one till now. The new imitation ones look better though IMO.

BDC you're usually on the ball, but those are imatation covers too, darkside motoring carries them too, they are for SOHC and DOHC and you can get them in a few colors...darkside lists them under REPLICAS in engine parts, some people on ebay try to sell them as authentic. If you compare the two, the mugen color isn't offered, and the lettering on the replica is slightly smaller and offset to one side. Anyway, who cares if it's not authentic, just dont say it is, that's just sad. You know, we know, but it's what YOU like.

When did I say it was authentic? I provided 'proof' and said to judge for yourself. It isn't any more fake than jerking off to a picture of Brittany Spears, but that doesn't stop anybody, right?

have you seen the 03 mugen catalog...why don't you all find one and look. it has a mugen valve cover lineup in it.. all the f3 stuff and even their race h22 valve cover.

why??? I know mugen is nice, but its just a valve cover. Do something original paint your cover something that you like.

Okay my bad then, but i thought you were showing that mugen DID make a valve cover for SOHC, that wasn't a genuine mugen cover, and that's what was asked...

Your proof was a replica, not mugen

It's as simple as this: when you have a "Mugen" valve cover, albeit 'fake' or real, it'll become the centerpiece of your engine compartment. It'll be the first thing ppl notice when you open your hood and become THE topic of conversation. No other engine dressup item can make this claim. I don't know WHY this is, but it's a fact. If that weren't so, why would anyone bother to make replicas?

As demonstrated in another (recent) thread, a valve cover has no real "functional" value. It's bling-bling, pure 'n' simple! Painting or polishing your OEM valve will get you some attention, but it isn't the same as having a 'Mugen' valve cover.

You can get a die-cast aluminum valve cover for a SOHC Honda engine with Mugen emblazened across it at the link above. If that doesn't do it for you, get out the 'bug bomb', spray your OEM cover with red barbeque paint and see how much attention it gets you. Not much, I would say, but it all depends on the level of sophistication of your friends, I suppose...

since mugen never made a "new style" sohc cover, it really shouldn't be called a "fake," since it was never made before...
