MUGEN B SERIES VALVE COVER is it baffled?
I'm looking to get a new valve cover bc my car will end up not having VTEC and i think its dumb to have it say it (plus i want something different). Originally looking at the Cerious Carbon Fiber One (http://store.wspisp.net/ceriou...?no=3)
or Possibly the Moroso
because of the access to the CAM gears but I've found out that they are both not baffled which i understand is rather important. I don't understand why an oil catch can can't serve the purpose of these baffles but I want to make sure to do things right the first time so my question, Is the Authentic Mugen Valve Cover Baffled?

if you look at the c/f there is a small baffle in front of the breather outlet, not sure how effective it is but those more than nothin. And sry i cant help you with the mugen cover.

beatiful is nothing if oil is in all of the performance parts. I agree the carbon one is probably my favorite but function over form is best. anyone have the scoop on the baffles?

yeah but is that enough? have you seen the bottom of a stock valve cover? baffles galor! the carbon fiber one is awesome and has some function to it. Light weight and easy access to the cam gears for tuning but if its going to dissipate oil like crazy i dont want it. I've heard bad things about baffleless manifolds throwing oil down the intake and on a turboed car with an intercooler i dont suppose that would be too cool. If a catch can will take care of the problem ill go with the CF one if not does anyone have a pic of the bottom of the Mugen Valve cover?

What are baffles? Just little metal peices? What purpose do they serve?
Looked for mugen valve covers and didn't find any pictures of the underside of them, sorry.
Here's a SOCH ZC cover, i'm still confused what baffels are

if im not mistaken what it is are the little metal peices sort of riveted in the valve cover take a look at the ZC cover how it has two layers. in any case what they do is help hold oil in im still a little confused on what they are and how they work but i do know for a fact the CF valve cover and the Moroso ones do not have them and i have heard horror stories of valve covers without them if you search a little you get what i mean. still hoping for an answer on the mugen cover...

Re: (vancoland)
for the person who was asking what the bafflers are, they hold the oil more stationary while the car is moving, it also keeps the majority of the oil out of the breather hole that runs to the intake. The are needed otherwise you will shoot oil out of the breather hole

they also keep internal parts from being submerged in oil which can cause power loss

So leave your stock valve cover on there and save yourself some money.

baffles keep the oil from being thrown up by the cams...the high the oil goes up the more it foams...it keeps your oil pump from sucking foam which is air and air in the oil pump means your motor isnt going to get lubricated...get it?
