Default Motor Wont Start, Died Out of nowhere

So I start my car to leave my work and go pick up some food. I listen and hear a slight knocking sound, I couldn't tell if it was a new sound or if It was just my input shaft bearing as it's really loud. So as I'm pulling out I'm taking it easy not taking my car above 3k. I drive about 3 blocks and get to my destination. My car sits for maybe 10 minutes, I start the car and leave the parking lot, as the stoplight turns green I start moving but all of a sudden there is alot of strain on the motor as if I left the parking brake on. All of a sudden with a loud squeaking sound my car shuts off and oil light comes on (after the car has shut off). I coast into a parking lot and sit. I try starting my car but starter just clicks. Pop the hood check the oil and its not reading at all. I walk back to work and let my car sit for about an hour. I call a tow truck and get the car towed to my house. The car is sitting on a downward slope facing down and I check my oil again. There is enough oil in there for it to read on the dipstick. I try cranking it again and it cranks verrryyyy slowly. I put more oil in the engine and try cranking again. It starts slow and gets faster, but not fast enough to start the car... I'm thinking its a rod bearing or crank bearing.. What would cause it to do that.

It sounds like the engine was starved for oil, and a bearing gave up the ghost.
Time for a lower-end rebuild.

If you want to rule out the starter and the battery, you can put it in neutral, take out the spark plugs, and crank the engine by hand to feel the internal resistance. It should crank by hand quite easily with the plugs out. That doesn't really rule out the input shaft though. I would check the tranny gear oil to see what kind of condition that's in.

What caused the tranny's input shaft bearing to fail?
