motor won't crank....searched...
alright i've searched this site, but couldn't find the answer.
anyway.....i checked all the gray plugs, they are fine. battery is ok, it was hooked up for a jump, windows rolled up, down, cooling fans came on ok.
the dash lights are really dim, the only one that kind of shows is the oil light, and when the key is turned all the way on, the CEL and battery lights light up barely. still no clock light though.
I can hear the main relay click over once the clutch is pushed in, but thats about it. the fuel pump doesn't turn on. i checked all of the fuses under the dash and in the engine bay, and they are all good.
I took the terminals off, and used sand paper to scrape off where the negative terminal bolts to the chassis, and it sparked so i know thats fine. The positive terminal goes straight to the starter and is bolted on tight.
Something wierd the fan turns on when the key is turned over and stays on as long as they key is held. That made me think that maybe I had the wires messed up, but the wire ring that bolts to the thermostat housing wont fit the starter bolt mount, so that left me stumped.
I'm going to try to hard wire the starter to the battery to see if it will turn, then take it from there i guess, but other than that i have no idea. when it was out before, the wheel on the starter turned freely, so i mean its not stuck, but someone mentioned a faulty contact. But what would that have to do with the interior lights not coming on?
any thzoughts??

Does the starter solenoid click when you try to start the car? If you hear no sound, your battery is probably just ****-dead. Hook it up to another running car and leave it alone for five minutes before you try to crank it again.

yeah its not the battery, i mean it was switched out for another one, then hooked up to a 7.3 diesel ford for a while, and still no lights. every other power option in the car works at the same time, just the instrument panel ones are f'ed up.
and the only click i can hear is from the main relay under the steering wheel when the clutch is pushed in, no sound from the starter....

problem solved.....
the ground that goes from the chassis to the tranny, the bracket i had painted and forgot about it, hence the shitty connection. nothing a lil 400 grit couldnt solve tho.
