More details. "Idle wierd" can mean a bunch of stuff. Most cars when cold run high idle around 1500rpms and slowly goes down as the car warms up.

Re: motor idles wierd with p08 ecu (chowmien)
my bad, when i start it up it goes to about 1500 then drops down to like 400 and sometimes stalls, it keeps doing that about 10 times before its warms up, this only happens with the p08 ecu but the motor is fine using the p06

probably a shotty fast idle falve.
or might be the eacv
theres 2 valves. with a remedy for each thats ez and fixes most ppls idle problems.
eacv, on back of intake manifold, it has a big cylinder on it. and 2bolts,
take it off and make sure the screens in it are clean and free,
if not use some carb cleaner to clean em out.
fast idle valve, underneath throttle body, its got vacuum and coolant running to it.
take it off, and undo the bolt on the side of it,
theres a wierd plastic screw thingie in there. if its loose, screw it in so its snug,
not super tight just so it wont fall out.
Better info can be found in a search, but thats the jist of it.

So your idle goes up, comes down until it warms up.
something makes me think that ECU is automatic. Open in up and show us a good high resolution picture. Or you could just search how 5spd ecu is supposed to look like. Either way you can chip it really easy.
