Default Motor Building ?s

I am going to build up a D15 motor I decided but I was curious for some pointers and general ideas. First off what is the Bore of the D15? Can I use B16A pistons? Secondly will a 16 valve head from the 90-91 CRX Si bolt onto the d15 block? Feel free to advise.

Its a 95 CX can'tremember the engine code off the top of my head. The plan was to use D-series vtec pistons, a wilder cam and possibly roller-rockers. I figure if I can double my output at the wheels then I will be fast enough for AutoX. I don't want to do a swap, it's too expensive and I want to build a motor myself, that's the point here. Starting small with a sohc, then we'll see about a roller-rocker LS engine.

D series 75mm bore.
can't use the b series pistons on it. but there are some mean High compression pistons for the D series. Im doing a 15:1+ compression on my 1.6L sohc race motor right now.
Dont let the other guys talk you into a B series if thats now what you really want. The b series is easier to build up with all the parts out there but doesnt mean the D is worthless. B swap=fast=cool=follow the bandwagon.
We've built 11 sec B series motors ourselves and everyone knows its not that hard.
its all formula. but real ingenuity and planning and total dedication is required to make the D series fast and thats what I think is the fun of it.
Bisi with his 10 sec SOHC 1.5L has been pushing me to go all out with my car for the past 3 yrs. and I finally took on the challenge this upcoming year to go all out on a SOHC VTEC INdiv TB to go side by side with his sohc carbed setup.

Just wanted to say to a fellow D series enthusiast, keep pushing on that D motor. We got your back.

First off who ever said that D-series sucks gets a
I give more respect to the peeps that bang out the horsepower outa those little
engines than i do to someone that just swapped out the motor. (even though i swapped mine) but its just more hard and you have to apprieciate the patience and money that it takes to do this. Anyways just to let you know, there are some racing heads that you can buy for the d-series, i dont remember who sells them but they looked pretty clean, i also think that i had seen them in the latest Stuper Street mag, under section of "power parts to go" or something like that.

I think building up the d series would be fun. I have a d16z6 in my EK right now, but it's got high Kms (200,000) so I think I may swap for something newer.

good luck on doubling your output. If i were you i'd swap in a d16z6. THis will provide more power than a cam and cost about the same price. I'm not sure about the autox rules, but i know at least with Del Sols are in the same class no matter what motor they have as long as it's the same one in one of the models. I know someone in my class who had a Del Sol S and swapped a b16 into it and was able to stay in the same class because it was still a motor that came stock in the car.
