Mishimoto radiator too tall for '93 del Sol
Hello everyone.
I'm in the process of reassembling the engine bay of my '93 del Sol after rebuilding the d16z6 and I decided to pick up a Mishimoto radiator.
I started the process of installing it but I realize that the radiator seems to be sitting too tall. The metal feet are sitting in the rubber mounts as the OEM one does, but the bracket post and radiator cap sit too high to let the hood close.
Has anyone else run into this problem? Any suggested troubleshooting options?
Thanks.
**EDIT**
It fits just fine. See my post below.

Was it the same kind that came out? I'm pretty sure they are Denso double core style.
If the fan is the same as the old one, and it fits, then it prob is the right size at least.. double check the rubber feet is on the pegs, then make sure they fit all the way down into the core support.
The holders from the support MIGHT also be bent up too high. Sometimes, idgits will think its a jack point.. Ahem.. no comment... (seriously, I did it about 15 yrs ago lol)

It's an aftermarket rad. What I took out was the dual-core OEM rad (the car was auto before I did a manual swap). The fan fits correctly.
I'll take a look at your suggestions tomorrow.
Thanks again.

So....
It turns out the problem wasn't with the radiator... It was with the installer, i.e. me... It fits just fine. And looks fancy!
This is what happens when you try to install things at 12am I guess. Derp...
And just to show that the OEM and the Mishimoto are in fact the same size, I took a few photos.
Thanks for the input!

Telling you would require admitting to my stupidity.
But in the interests of sharing to help educate the next guy...
When mounted the rad cap appears to sit higher than the OEM. This is an illusion. When I tried to test close the hood I thoght I felt the underside if the good hitting the rad cap. It was in fact the latch hitting the anchor on the opposite side. I didn't try closing the hood out of fear of damaging it or the rad.
But after measuring then both and seeing they were the same size I reinstalled and then tried to close the hood. And it closed.

Nothing wrong to admitting to mistakes, at least you're forth coming. In order to advance in your experience mistakes have to be made.
