Is a mini-me worth the money?
I mean i was just thinking about it a mini me runs for about $300(total thing, including ecu)is it really worth the money?i mean a d15b7 is slower than ***** but the z6/y8 is by no means mindblowing as far as power go,so i mean is it really worth it?
personally i'm not really a "must be fast" kind of guy,i'm 17 and i really have no need for my car to be super fast,it's not like i street race or do any type of racing,i just like for my car to be nice and clean
what do you guys think?
p.s
i own a car with a b7 btw

In my opinion no it's not worth it. .. if your not really into racing then just keep your car clean and don't worry about stuff like engine swaps and **** like that. Before you know it you'll be spending money on traffic tickets and at 17 years old beleive me this is not kool.

no its not worth it the power gain is not worth 300-400 dollars when i did mine i thought it would be a big improve ment but after the labor and cost and what little gain i got it wasent worth it and SOHC V-TEC it about useless any way but this is my opionion do what you like but i pulled out the mini me 2 weeks ago and put in a DOCH odb1 ZC and it made all the diffrence in the world and was only $400 wich is about what you and most will spend on a mini me swap

How could you say a mini me power gains is not worth it when you got a DOHC ZC which puts out about the same power as a mini me. On top of that if you have a mini me you could go to your local parts store and get anything you need, unlike your OBD1 DOHC ZC I'll like seen that.

my d16a6 block/d16z6 head/ex tranny puts a compression about 9.95:1.... and that beast inside my 2000lb eg hatch moves pretty quick.....quicker than SI's, GSR's....

i say its not worth from experience but like i said its my OPIONION i had a d15b block and a z6 head adjustable cam gear light weight underdrive pully and my ZC is still stronger and as for getting parts for a ZC a 89 integra will do wornders the motors use alot of the same parts

The way i see it is, if you do a mini-me head conversion you will probly only get 20-30 hp extra, but at the same time you will have a head that breaths alot better at high rpm due to the vtec and therefore future mods will prove more effective. My old b7 pulled strong untill about 5800 or so, my new engine a d15b vtec pulls strong untill around 7100, with vtec you get an extra 1300 rpm added to your power band with same basic engine.

I agree, if you plan on boosting it later. Otherwise keep what you have and save the $400 towards a swap once your engine dies.

me and my fiancee did a b7/z6 mini me swap, it came out to less than 250 since our friends have spare parts laying around, there was a noticeable difference as soon as we put our ex tranny in. Were gonna be puttin the z6 intake manifold tomorrow around noon and see how that goes, also might be puttin on a 60mm tb, not sure if we should though. anyways id say its worth it just cuz vtec does help future mods, than later on you can boost a safe 5-6psi and you have boost and vtec

I have a y7/y8 mini me. In a month or two I'll be boosting it so we'll see if it was worth it when compared to other similar setups with just a y7.

i was in the same situation, but luckily my homie was sellin his b18b. so unless you run into a deal(if money is an issue) do the minime. but then again, if you don't care about being fast, keep it stock

What does worth it entail? With the right parts you will see about 130-140 horse to the wheels for a monster, maybe 120 for something not so burly. EX tranny is the big one. My old Z6 was all around faster than my b8. I again have a B8, just got my Y8 head and an Si tranny plus I got an 8lb flywheel, I want to do the tranny bits first to see what that does. I'd say do it and AutoX. If you want big power, Turbo your single cam cheaper than a B and faster.

i just got finished with my mini-me. it took me longer than i thought but in the end it was worth it.i spent more on it that $400. but i'm in lower alabama so there isn't many older civics around here.mine is a y7 block with y8 head, intake, and ecu.i'll get my si trany next week.but with dc sports header, and aem short ram i got almost 40hp.on the dyno yesterday.ithink it will be better with the si tranny.

Re: Is a mini-me worth the money? (BEEJAYZ)
where im at hondas are everywhere, i picked up a good z6 head for less than 100 bux, the ecu was 120, and all the other lil parts added up to around 60 bux, it was definately worth it imo, oh and the ex tranny was another 100 so in total, yah like...320bux and we have a motor doing 220 compression, not smoking, pulls nice once vtec hits, its worth it if you find deals but like someone said if your gonna be budgeting- keep it stock and just do lil things like tranny/intake manifold and whatnot

im finishing my minime today... if you really want to save money...by the vtec conversion kit from xenocron.com $20. a couple transistors and stuff for your p06 ecu.... it takes like 15 minutes to install.
works great!
