Default The Million Mile Civic?

I was talking with a tech that works at KIA so this is why i am skeptical of what he said. I didnt go to KIA but where I work currently, the tech came to get somethin to eat so him and I were talking about my timing belt change and how much dealers charge. Then he talked about his integra that he had a while ago. Then he started talking about a honda with a million miles on it:

He said that if you keep a honda up or past 1 million miles(that many miles total, doenst have to be origional origional owner) and give it to "Honda"(corprate, or the headquarters, idk how to give it to them tho) then they will keep it, show it and give you a choice of any honda on their lot for free.

Has anyone heard of this?

Sounds like a great idea.
But do you seriously think this is for real? There's no way they'd do something like this...

If you guys search deep in to the archives, you will find a thread a member on here started. He bought a civic with a lot of miles to achieve this goal. I don't know if he is still going for it or not, but you can contact him if you find the thread, it was on GDD a few years ago, I remember. His car had 300k already and he did a lot of hwy driving, it would be nice if he brought the thread back up.

Some courier up north did it a few years back. He had a '90-93 Accord 5-spd wagon and racked up over 1,000,000 miles on the original drivetrain. Honda gave him a new car for free.

Edit: http://www.vtec.net/news/news-...53478 There used to be a video for it, but it's not online anymore.

Yeah, I had the story wrong. The car they gave him for free was the one that he put a million miles on. I remember seeing the video of it several years ago.

I am going to go get some things for an oil change. I am going to stop by honda to figure this out. My car has 107K miles on it and works perfectly. I know its a LONG ways away but im keepin my car as long as i can, hopefully till 1million miles . Ill post when i get back to see what they said.

I would see why honda would give a new car if they kept if it had over a million miles on it. What better else advertisment than to have your own brand car with a million miles on it when many domestic cars crap out at an early age(well compared to the life of a honda with that many miles). Just my opinion

Shouldnt be too long till i get back from Honda.

I know this happened at a dealer near where I live they had a newspaper article on the wall of the guy who did it. Im not to sure if it was a civic though i believe it was an accord and he got a new one for free.

I would really like to know more info on this!!!!!!!

Does it have to be 1,000,000 miles? I see one of them was 615,000 which is CONSIDERABLY less then a million.

Is this a random thing Honda did or do they do it for any car that reaches that high?

I have a crx capable of this. Please fill me in with the details! I would love a BRAND NEW CRX or any new honda for that matter (s2000?)

I would like to know also. my friends dad had a 84 crx a few years back that had 420k on the odo, and the engine needed a tuneup, but the body was really bad so he gave it to the junkyard. if reaching 600k and getting a new 06 civic, i woulda took that crx LOL... put it on jack stands and let it run???

615,000 miles is pretty damn close to a million kilometers though, maybe we're using the wrong unit of measure?

I'd love to see it happen, although I don't think it will.

I've never heard of such a thing till now.

i think it would happen since honda engines are very reliable. theres vovlos that made it to a million, and theres a club tingee going on, its on their website. gotta be a shitload of driving to reach that milestone IMO.

Sounds like when Al Bundy drove his Dodge for a million miles (not successfully because he rolled it over just a million) and Dodge would hand him the keys to a new Viper.
