Megan Racing LCAs suck
OK so I ordered some Megan Racing Rear LCAs for my EG from Robear Racing exactly two weeks ago today. After a lot of bullshit from Robear which I will get into later after I get my refund, I finally got the LCAs last friday. When I tried to install them on Saturday afternoon, I found that the bushing that the bottom of the rear shock goes over is way too narrow. Pics -
Rear LCA:
Shock/Bushing Fitment: (this pic is with a stock EG rear shock)
As you can see the bushing is approx. 1/4" too narrow on each side...
So I called Robear and they said they would contact Megan Racing. When Robear called me back they said their rep at Megan Racing admitted to knowing about the problem with EG rear shock fitment and he said to USE WASHERS!!!
So basically I think this is bullshit - both the Megan Racing website ( http://www.meganracing.com/pro...d=159 ) and the Robear Racing website ( http://www.robearracing.com/pd...r.cfm)
list this application for 92-95 civic. So basically Megan is selling a product which they claim fits EG chassis when they KNOW it doesn't fit and then they want you to USE WASHERS to make it work.
So to summarize:
Megan Racing
Robear Racing (like I said I will get into this later)
And as a side note I ordered some products from a few other companies on the same day, they all arrived quickly, were well packed, and fit well.
to JHPUSA.com for Mugen Front Strut Bar
to Heeltoe Racing for EM Racing Rear Strut Bar
to Kteller.com for Omnipower USA Drag Coilovers (I would highly recommend this company to anyone)

washers are not going to affect anything to bad. Seeing that rear camber kits use washers.

Exactly.. just use washers and quit making a big fuss about it. It's not Mugen, it's Megan!!

sorry I don't care what company a product is made by, if they promote/market it as fitting a particular application it should fit that application. so I just thought I would let people know about some false advertising.
oh and robear is giving me a full refund.

yeah but its just wasted a lot of my time, ordering them, waiting for them, partial install, etc. and now I have to wait for the refund to hit my account before I can order some SRRs. So I thought I would let other people know so the same thing doesn't happen to them.

Re: (JDMisGOOD)
Well I'm pretty tight on cash I figured I could afford these but not the more expensive SRRs. I guess I learned my lesson about that **** - no more knockoff parts for me.
I just wanted other people to know that when the megan racing LCAs look like to good of a deal to be true, they are. My car is not super high budget stunna or anything, but I am pretty meticulous about the mods I make I want them to be done the right way. Washers on the lower shock mount don't really fit that mold to me.

not true. i just bought these because of this very reason. only the shock bushing is thin.
i have a set of 1500.00 coilovers off of my old ek. with these arms i could use
my ek coilovers on my eg. i love these arms for this reason.
i think megan sells them like this, so they can be used with a ek, or eg shock
set up. i think it is a good idea. all this guy needs is washers.
or stick with oem, so there is no crying, because it dont fit like oem.

Re: Megan Racing LCAs suck (909edge)
news flash. specialty products (SPC) their lcas are exactly the same. spaces on both sides. so take that for what its worth. Just because it has those spaces doesnt mean its crap. SPC provides the gap inserts though.

ok. so what's the big deal? I bought some tokico illuminas for my ek.. they use the same damn thing for eg/dc's, the only difference for the ek is the kit comes with washers to place between the lca bushing and the strut brackets.. doesn't mean it's ****..

First of all:
Why did you even buy those in the first place? Can you tell me what the benefits (or advertised benefits) of thos LCAs are?
Secondly:
Washers will have ZERO negative effects on that application bro. You're making a big deal about nothing dude. People use washers all the time with Eg LCAs on their EKs.
Also for the guy who said this:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">looks like you got EK LCAs</TD></TR></TABLE>
No. EK LCAs have way THINNER LCA bushings/sleeves in them.

He is holding that LCA up to an EG shock... The LCA is THINNER than the shock mount... Wouldn't that mean it was likely made to fit an EK?
Maybe you were being sarcastic, I dunno... But I'm not seeing a difference in what you're saying from what I said.

First - lighter (marginally), have a mount hole for rear sway bar, new bushings, and of course appearance.
Second - OK maybe it would work fine, it just seems ghetto to me. I guess I just expected it to fit correctly or at least come with the necessary hardware to install it.

Re: Megan Racing LCAs suck (909edge)
I like my stock LCA's. they fit pretty nicely.
Sorry to hear about your disatisfaction... I wouldn't want to use washers either, also... if they gave you your money back, I don't see any reason to blast them.
