MAP Sensor position issue
i have a 1993 civic dx with ls-turbo but swapping back to a d15...long story...went in to get it state verify and the guy told me that my MAP sensor is suppose to be located on the chasis/the frame of the car and not on top of the throttle body...weird??? so he failed me because of that...he said he was going by the books...i checked other d15 motors and all map sensor on on top of the throttle...what is he talking about? Can anyone help?

Re: MAP Sensor position issue
Yeah, '92 - '93 DXs and LXs (anything that came with a D15B7 from the factory for those years really) have the MAP sensor on the firewall, its attached to a bracket thats bolted to the fuel filter bracket actually. Its connected to a port on top of the throttlebody via a short length of vacuum line. '94 - '95 DX/LX models have the MAP sensor on top of the throttlebody. They both function the same way and are interchangeable provided you are running the corresponding throttlebody.

Here you go, its a shitty pic, but its the only one I have. You can see the MAP sensor to the immediate right of the fuel filter, and you can see the vacuum line going to the throttle body.

Re: MAP Sensor position issue
I only wish I could say that was mine. The car pictured is a '93 bone stock DX coupe that was for sale on ebay a few months ago. It had something like 1800 miles on it. Essentially it just sat in a garage for 15 years. Now my own '94 LX SE sedan on the other hand... I try to keep it clean, but dirty, salty Canadian roads don't make that easy.

Re: MAP Sensor position issue
I had to get a firewall mounted MAP for my B16A in my EG.
I got mine from www.haprecycling.com (located in CA), just in case you want to know where to find one. They will know exactly what you are what you are looking for and why.
