Default LSD d-series question

i'm looking into getting an LSD/tranny for my d series monster and i have 2 simple questions:

1. does the jdm d15b vtec have an LSD option, if so what is the difference in it's gears compared to the EX tranny

2. would it be worth it to install an aftermarket LSD on my EX tranny, or swap out the whole tranny

thanks

I believe the only JDM tranny compatible w/ d series that has an OEM LSD is the S20 tranny... and i believe its from the ZC. Otherwise, KAAZ or QUAIFE...

1. yes, it's rare, but it exists. gearing and final is the same as your ex tranny.
2. hell yes it would be worth it to put a quaife in there. that's what i would do.

the d15b lsd trannies are hard to come by, and therefore pretty expensive. ~$500. apparently they tend to explode at the 130 whp level, and you can not rebuild them, because you won't be able to get the parts for it. plus you won't know the condition of it to begin with.

i've been in this situation, and the ex tranny w/ quaife is the way to go.

Quaife LSD IMHO. Lifetime warranty owns.

The OEM LSDs are prone to detonate over 140whp or so.

if he's asking this question i don't think he's gonna rebuild it every 20k
kaaz is an awesome lsd, quaife is just more practical for most of us.
