LS Motor only gives 20 MPG. Input needed.
Motor:
B18a1
Car:
93 CX.
Problem:
Since I got my swap in, when my odometer reaches the 200 mile mark its time to go get some gas. If I try I could get more mileage but i dont like to stretch it out like that. When I fill her up about 8.5 gallons go in and i know i have a 10 gallon tank.
What could be wrong? Car still runs right. No problems. Stock motor with i/e.

ok.. first off: if you drive 200 miles.. and then put 8.5 gallons in your tank, that's 23.5 MPG..
If you get 23.5 MPG, and you still have 1.5 gallons left, then you can get 235.25 miles before you run out of gas..
simple math ownz jo0!
the injectors might be gummed up.. or you could be running rich.. or you could be running lean.. or you're fuel pump could be fucked up... you could be leaking fuel somewhere... you might change your fuel filter..
could be any number of things, including you miss-interpreting the information. if you think 200 miles on 8.5 gallons of gas is 20mpg then i dont doubt that you are reading something wrong as well.
also take into account that EH2 guages are always wrong.. The fuel guage is hella off all the time. it can go well beyond the E before you run out of gas.

your not really out of gas when you think you are. YOu prolly still have atleast a gallon in there. Seems about right to me. Maybe running a little rich?

tried some seaform...i get on average 300 mi before ihave to fill up when i had the LS motor...and that is with the b16 tranny driving aggressivly everyday. It depend alot on your driving habits too. Clean injector, replace o2 sensor, pcv, fuel filter, air filter and seaform are some things you can do.

I dont care how you drive, there is no reason to get THAT low of a MPG. I would replace obviously the fuel filter, and clean the injectors. If your still having problems, the O2 sensor is probably the culprit. Replace it and see whats happens

after speaking with andres regarding this, he is using a b18b with a gsr tranny (lowering the gearing) and also using 195/50-15 tires, further reducing the gearing. in addition to possible tune up issues, lowering the gearing that much will seriously affect mpg.

I'm curious what you find...
I just replaced a B18C1 that was burning oil, needed a timing belt and probably had ring/seal issues. It was still getting 30MPG though.
I put in a B20B and now I'm getting about 20MPG. I replace the fuel filter when I did the swap, have brand new plugs/wires/distributor cap/rotor. I switched from a GSR tranny to an ITR, but that shouldn't make this kind of difference.
seems odd.

I have a 96 LS and I am getting 30mpg. Accordding to the OBDII reader I was running 30% rich.... I say first see if you are running rich.. then run that full tank down until you see the E light on. Perhaps the meter is off a bit..
