Default At low RPM, really sluggish...

I have 00 civic EX. When temperature gage is at C my car runs fine. But as soon as it reach at normal temperature my car is sluggish at low end RPM(till 3000 RPM).
Do you guys know what would be the problem?

But when engine is cold car runs fine. So I am not sure thats the problem and I also tired to check code but it did not help.

I also have a 00 civic ex and I have the same problem. I think it's the o2 sensor. Let me know if you fix it.

If it is the O2 flooring it should make the symptoms disappear... Once at WOT the computer should fuel the car off the stock maps not it's readings off the O2 sensor...

Other than that I don't really have any suggestions without some more info...

What kind of maintanance do you do... are you behind on anything?

What's the last thing you worked on?

Did this problem start gradually or did it happen all of a sudden?

I have a canadian 1.6 EL, some pimped out Civic EX.I have the same issues (d16y8).There is like, no power under 3000rpm.Sometimes, when i coast to a stop, i shift into 2nd from a slight roll, maybe 4-5mph, i step on the gas normally, then i get some kinda "bump" in the 1900-2000 range.like if the engine had trouble breathing and it was about to choke.Weird dont you think.

I have a sohc d16z6 and I got i/h/e. I noticed that eversince i put on my cold air intake my bottom end seemed sluggish till about 3k rpms then it picks up after that. So I decided to use my stock intake tube and slap on my cold air filter on it. So far my car feels alot better with no hesitation on the bottom end.

Have you changed your spark plugs?? I changed mine yesterday and seemed to help with problem. Still is a little bit sluggish but not really that bad, but that is with mods. If your car is still under warranty take it to the dealership and tell them to have a look at it?? It shouldn't cost you anything.

I'd change the fuel filter, cap rotor, wires and plugs... ALL STOCK.

That will probobly make it all go away...

Might as well do a pcv valve while you're at it...

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com is a good source for parts... although I don't know if they deliver to canada.

Sounds like classic bad distributor coil problems. Under 3000 rpm it "chugs" or whatever then picks up and feels normal unless you get on it. It's easy enough to change with an MSD external coil, but if you want to go OEM it's also a bolt-on affair.

I can tell you 100% that it's not an intake or transmission problem.

I don't think its o2 sensor. Because if o2 sensor was bad my RPM gage would jump. Thats what happen to my BMW.
Now Fuel filter, when temputer gage is at C it runs fine. So I am not sure if that suppose to happen.

heat is TERRIBLE for coils... so it would certainly make sense that the coil was bad if it was running ok when everything is cold...

I'd replace the stock coil... it's like 70 bucks or so from hondaautomotiveparts.com...

How many miles on the car?

I bought it used at 10000 miles and now it got 35000 miles. Car runs like this since I bought it. Car was sitting for about 10 months before I bought it.
How do you change coils and where it is located.

Coil is inside the dist. cap...

It shouldn't be bad with that low milage... Do you know anyone with the same car?

It would be worth trying to see if it's bad by replacing it with one from a car that's running fine.
