In some states theft recovery earns a salvage title. I'm 99% sure it's that way here, in NY.

Not a bad thing to have...but dont rely on just that. I have seen pictures of cars that had LowJack installed and still stolen, and the theives wrote "F*ck LowJack" where the unit was hidden, but it is a nice extra layer to have. Nothing is 100% safe from theft. A buddy of mine had the engine in his car stolen right out of his own garage...they used his tools and cherry picker and left a note saying thanks for letting us use your tools. Pretty messed up

I had parts stolen off of my car using the tools I had in my car. Then they stole the tools too.

Here is Low Jack's coverage area though (information taken from Low Jack's website).

RED = Covered
GREY = Not Covered

it doesnt matter. if someone wants to steal your car, then they'll steal it. just be cautious where you park and equip your car well (with two way alarm: recommendations - compustar or viper). and remember to turn your steering wheel either all the way to your right or all the way to your left. it will help slow down the theives at least. and if you dont care about airbags, how about get a quick release hub, and if you are so jDM! then get a nardi or personal steering wheel.

but again, if they want it, they'll take it.

Lo-Jack can do the same...

Even still HooFu is right if they want it they WILL find a way to take it.

Looking at the map, I'd say they are.

I should redo that map, but bigger and with large cities marked down.

it's expensive? well how much have you spent on your civic (average honda enthusiast)?

motor swap
engine bolt ons
maybe some internasl work has been done.

carbon fiber hood, spoiler, maybe trunk.

suspension parts from bars to springs and struts.

then lets not forget the $3000 rim and tire package (for all the ballers).

now let someone jack it from you in less than 5 minutes.

now is lojack expensive? granted, it's not 100% effective, but it's alot more than a regular alarm, not to mention other security measures should be consider as well.

Everyone talks about this "where there's a will, there's a way" mentality that car thieves have; the idea that they'll eventually steal it if they really want to. For people with loads of security, how long are you leaving your cars unattended? I may be wrong but I don't think most car thieves are gonna get past a stealth alarm, a kill switch, ignition kill, a locked steering wheel and a club in two minutes. To me it would only seem possible if it's someone who knows about what's on your car.
