Low/instable idle at cold start + Code 6 ( ECT )
Hi there
Yesterday my Civic EK3 D15, when i wanted to start it, it start but low idle between 400/100 and stall. After another start it ok but i have to keep the throttle a little bit to maintain it at 1500rpm a few seconde till it maintain it self . I have a code 6 ( Engine coolant temperature ) when a unplug it nothing change, but when i unplug the IACV the rpm up to 1500 all the time. The wires of the ECT are not in good shape but in theory when a plug or unplug it something have to change no ?
Excuse my english guys
I juste wanna know what a i have to change for not buying a wrong part.
thx all and have a good day.

Here's how to test the sensor, other than the ECU pin outs you should be able to trouble shoot the sensor itself. If the wires are corroded they could just not being make connection:

I think, because there's no connection the ECT send a false information that the engine is hot when i try to start it. It explain why the idle is around 400rpm

hi,
Finally, today i've changer my plug and the 2 wires on it of the ECT sensor, and the car is running better than ever before. no more idling, no more poor gas economy and better response
Thanks
