Loud exhaust
I have the 5 zigen fireball tip but i can barely hear it. I want it to be alot louder. I'm wondering if i replace the muffler and the middle pipe with bigger pipes, would that make it alot louder? I can hear it a little bit when i'm behind the exhaust but when i'm in the car i can't hear jack. I dont have hardly any money to spend thats why I dont want to buy the whole exhaust system. I had apexi exhaust in my civic ex, and i could hear that inside the car really well. All i hear on my SI is the engine. I know it has to have potential because I was watching speed tv, and on a 2002 honda civic ex they put fireball 5 zigen exhaust on and it was pretty loud and sounded really nice.

Re: Loud exhaust (vtec181)
my 99 si is fast enough for me. i like loudness..i duno why its just in me i guess. But should i just put a bigger muffler and bigger middle pipe in there? would that make it alot louder? cuz i think its just the stock muffler and middle pipe right now.

Re: Loud exhaust (coolerik18)
the less resistance on the air flow the louder it will be, so yea bigger pipes would be louder cuz it frees up more air, also like SiEyeVee said, remove any resonators to again, free up the air flow

i used to do that when my resonator fell off becuase of rust....it's louder than a truck. the main thing that silences the exhaust note is resonator..now i'm resonatorless straight through piping but i think it's too loud even with a silencer..

Resonators don't cause any restriction (not enough to notice anything whatsoever). They just resonate the sound. Every city/county/state has a dB law. Make sure you know what it is before you go driving through otherwise the local officer/sherriff/trooper will nab you...and troopers are the worst.

Run open header (or open exhaust manifold ) if you like loud stunna daddy. Make sure you notice everyone pointing a laughing when you drive with an obnoxious exhaust as well. I have the Apexi N1 and it's.. Annoying lol

Re: Loud exhaust (unratedforums)
Am I the only one that noticed he said he replaced the TIP only and has not even touched the exhaust.
The tip does nothing for sound or performance it is all just for looks. You have to actually change out the piping and or muffler to have any affect at all on the sound of your exhaust.
IMO loud exhaust is annoying and stupid but each to their own I guess.

He might have meant just the muffler, not sure though.

I noticed that he said tip also, but i assumed he was not dumb enough to think that a tip would make your exhaust loud.... unbelievable! His next upgrade....LED washer nozzles.
